    The Grace to do it

Where did this saying come from?
If God call you on a mission, He will
give you the Grace to perform it?

    The Bible does say:
    1 Corinthians 10:13 (KJV1611 Edtion):
There hath no temptation taken you,
but such as is common to man: but God is faithfull,
who wil not suffer you to bee tempted aboue
    that you are able
: but will with the temptation
also make a way to escape, that ye may bee able to beare it.

Yes, we at times read into scripture what we'd hope that it had said, devising our own way!

God at times, for His own reasons, withdraws His protection from some; as with Job and also with Peter.
Undergoing extreme hardship and feeling totally alone with no resource at all, coming finally to the end of ourself, we grow in knowledge, strength and grace. Was this not the whole purpose, especially with Peter, who sinned mightily and yet was told: 'Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not; and when thou are converted strengthen thy brethren!' Lk 22:31,32

We can never come to total dependece on Him without the circumstances that take us there!

It was God, not Satan that initiated the dialogue leading to Job's extreme losses and miseries! All this for God's great purpose and glory!

That verse, 'when I am weak, then I am strong' shows that only when we are at our end, can we fully depend on Him and realize our uselessness!

What about "And lo, I am with you always...."

I am quite sure that when God gives me a direction to go, He is there before me, preparing the way, and with me, in me, working through me. It is not me, but Him, and He can always do what He wants.

If God brings me to it - He will see me through it.

God would not ask me to do something and then leave me to do it all by myself.

My constant prayer is, "Lord, prepare me for the days ahead", and He tells me in His Word:

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.
    2Cr 12:9

Sometimes it's not His grace that is the problem, but our own unwillingness to do what we know needs doing!

I like the scripture that Sue quoted.

Hebrews 12:28: Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:

    How about...

    Hebrews 13:20-21 NIV
    (20) May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep,
    (21) equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

I don't know exactly where the saying came from, and to be perfectly honest I haven't heard it before that I can remember. But if it's not grace that does it, then it will be wood, hay and stubble when tried.

God doesn't always call the equipped - but He always equips the 'called'...

God never calls us to do anything that He isn't going to help us, equip us to do. If He did, we wouldn't need Him at all, we could do it all on our own.
