I presume most or all of us who read this forum do believe there was a great flood. But do we believe everything about it as it is recorded in Genesis? are some of the common ideas assumptions? does believing it simply require blind faith? I will refrain for now from divulging why I am posting this poll at this time and on this forum.

I haven't seen you around for awhile. After the Enlightenment in the early days of geology about 1800 some of the old earthers no longer believed in Noah's Flood. The Flood did not cover Everest because Everest came into being as a result of the Flood. Nowadays old earthers don't believe that the Flood caused the Grand Canyon in a rapid runoff of a large body of water previously trapped. I myself have come to disrespect the superstitious science of the old earthers.

So far, the only choice that has 100% of votes is "Noah warned people that the great flood was coming." Scripture does not say that. It is only an assumption or conclusion.

Genesis 5:32 (KJV) And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

Genesis 7:6 (KJV) And Noah [was] six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.

I think that Noah had time to warn people and also the Ark was large enough that it could have held many other persons. God dictated the dimensions of the Ark and so God made provision but there were only eight people when the door of the Ark was shut.

    B. B. Warfield (Princeton):

The Old Testament may be likened to a chamber richly furnished but dimly lighted; the introduction of light brings into it nothing which was not in it before; but it brings out into clearer view much of what is in it but was only dimly or even not at all perceived before.

    Quite an interesting poll!
    The responses are enlightening.
    So were there unicorns?

One needs to be aware and constantly on the alert regarding what truths are actually revealed in Scripture and what we think Scriptures say.

One should widely separate revealed biblical truth from proposed theories we draw from these truths.

Perhaps this song will be a reminder.

A long time ago, when the earth was still green
And there were more kinds of animals than you've ever seen
They'd run around free while the earth was being born
But the loveliest of all was the unicorn

There was green alligators and long-necked geese
Some humpty-backed camels and some chimpanzees
Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you're born
The loveliest of all was the unicorn

Oy, this one again. Yes, single-horned animals are real.

    Unicorns in the Bible?

There is masive evidence of great floods all across North America. 12,000-11,000 years ago there were woolly Mammoths, cave bears, two types of lions, Mastadons, woolly rinos. Giant beavers, giant armadillos, giant elk, dire wolves, giant bison and many others I cannot remember. Something whiped them out. North America and South America lost almost all it's mega fauna (weighing 100 pounds or more). Africa kept 80% of its mega fauna. Something maybe a comet hit the ice sheets across North America rapidly melting them causing catastrophe. Dogger land (the north sea) was covered in water as well as all coast lines moved inland a sizable amount.

Separation of the post flood Continents. Southern continents dated some 300 million years ago. The northern continents some later 20 million years ago. They are global flood evidence before the dated 300 million years. From the bottom of the Atlantic oceanic trench to coasts of Africa and South America.

    Q

In Genesis 6:18, God told Noah, "But I will establish My covenant with you; and you shall enter the ark—you and your sons and your wife, and your sons’ wives with you." While God told him himself and wife, and 3 sons and their wives will enter the ark and be part of the covenant, he mentions no one else. The world "only," however, is not there (in English translations, at least). I don't see, then, why he would waste his time urging others to come.

ALL Bible-believing Christians must accept what the Holy Bible, which is the ONLY God-given Authority to the human race, says on this and all matters. Never should a true believer question the Reliability of the Holy Bible, and try to make it "agree" with so-called "science", which is purely man-made! If the Lord says something in the Holy Bible, and we KNOW that This Book IS His Infallible, Inerrant and Perfect Word to us, then this ALONE must be enough. We must NEVER be deceived by the devil to "question" the Lord, as he did to Adam and Even, when he asked them, "hath God said"?, when God had already spoken very clearly to Adam and Eve.

It is VERY CLEAR that the Holy Bible teaches a UNIVERSAL flood, which DID cover the entire earth. The Bible is also CLEAR that this included ALL the HIGH MOUNTAINS, and also adds to make sure there is no doubt, that it was TWENTY-THREE higher than the highest mountain peak:

"And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and ALL THE HIGN MOUNTAINS that are under THE WHOLE HEAVENS were covered. Fifteen cubits above them (23 FEET) did the waters prevail; and the mountains were thus covered" (Genesis 7:19-20)

If there is not a single other reference in the Bible about this (there is), this passage would more than suffice on the question of whether the whole earth, including the highest mountains, was indeed covered. GOD CANNOT LIE!!! YET, there are still those, who claim to be "evengelical", like Bernard Ramm, who in his 1954 book, "The Christian View of Science and Scripture", casts doubts on the Biblical Account of the flood, thereby questioning the very Word of Almighty God!.

I like the KJV for Paul's words to Timothy, "O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called" (1 Timothy 6:20)

People are too hung-up on what the "science" text books have to tell us. Let us never forget, that ALL these books, are MANS point of view, they are NOT in any way inspired by God, even those written by good Christains. The Holy Bible is THE ONLY Authority on ALL matters that it Speaks on, and can be believed and relied upon 1 ZILLION % (whateven is the greatest number)!!!

It is the youngest mountain range. It could not form before the mountains in Turkey. There was nothing environmental wise to change the single continent God created, until the Flood. Unless you think those on earth moved enough stone and created the Hymala mountains prior to the Flood. There was no Mediterranean Sea before the Flood either. That area between Europe and Africa was the first crack in the earth in the days of Peleg. "25 To ‘Ever were born two sons. One was given the name Peleg [division], because during his lifetime the earth was divided". Some try to claim political or social. Sorry, the earth in Genesis 10 refers to the land.

Where in scripture, does it pinpoint the elevation of "the highest" mountain???
To say that Everest WAS then the "highest" mountain, is itself nothing more than pure conjecture!!
For all we know from scripture is that the water covered the highest mountain - which may have been 1,000 or less.
Truth is, we just don't know!

We are talking about mountains, not the moles in our back yard. Compared to your speculation posts, mine seem rather insignificant.
