You are correct. As one who was born in Alaska I once considered moving there because there was such a surplus in their coffers that they paid out yearly dividends to the residents.

It seems that Palin and Palin supporters immediately start saying that others who do not support her hate her. This is not true. I do not support her and I do not hate her. I simply believe she would be a complete disaster for the US if elected president.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When she was running for VP I was against McCain being elected simply because of his picking her at his VP. During the election campaign and after the election in several posts I said ....

Palin would be a great friend, lots of fun to be around.
She, as a friend, would very likable.
She would be a lot of fun to be around.
She, I am sure, is the life of any party she attends.

But that does not mean she is qualified to be VP or president. IMHO she isn't.

Her language shows shallow thinking. Remember the Alaska is next to Russia comment when asked about foreign policy experience?

Some of her answers in the campaign showed ignorance of the world and world conditions.

She has a history of quitting jobs.

It appears, because of her vitriol language that she runs on emotion rather than on thought out positions.

She seems paranoid, playing the victim card any time she is criticized.

She seems to accept no responsibility for results of her words.

Someone posted about having supporters because of her looks. That is a factor. I have been told by more than one man that they support her because she has great sex appeal. That, to me, is a very poor reason to support a candidate.

So, though I believe she is a very likable person on a personal level, I cannot support her politically. And, no, I don't hate her. I do fear for the country if she were elected.

It's not totally incompatible with influencing those issues, but it's more compatible with making lots of money while simultaneously vastly reducing your actual power and ability to effect change.

Do you really think she's got more influence over energy policy as a talking head on FOX News compared to being the governor of Alaska? If she really was concerned about energy, by resigning from the governorship she removed herself as a powerful force for change.

She has much more influence with the conservative portion of the general public doing the things that she is doing currently than as governor.

How many governors are in the news, on TV, on the radio, or making public apperances as much as she is?

You dodged the question. Wouldn't she have more influence over energy policy as governor of oil and natural gas rich Alaska than she would as a talking head?

She's no longer a governor. She quit. Mitt Romney and Tim Pawlenty come to mind. Mike Huckabee has his own show.

    That's debatable.

She is getting a lot of attention as a "talking head".

It appears her talking is costing her dearly. The poll was conducted by: CNN/Opinion Research Corporation.

    What difference do polls make?

Haters hate - no matter what the polls say.

Haters also love to justify their hate one way or another - even if they have to point to polls in order to do it.

And you haven't addressed the OP.

Is your hatred of Palin demonic or simply irrational?

Here is an article about the legal debt she incurred due primarily because of attacks from the left. http://blogs.wsj.com/law/2009/07/07/an-open-letter-from-sarah-palins-lawyer-thomas-van-flein/

From what I understand she had basically accomplished everything she could as governor, and I don't fault her for leaving early in order to raise money to take care of the legal debts and raise funds for future political aspirations.

Do I personally think she is qualified for the presidency now, no. I would like to see her get more experience, maybe in a few more years. But I do think she is great for this country in her current role, and gives a voice to many in America.

Could this be the source of the hatred of her from the left?

Definetely, the elitist in Washington, and the liberal media doesn't consider the real America. Look at the news, tv programs, etc. The majority of the population does not reflect what we see on TV. To them its New York and Hollywood, with nothing in between.

I don't hate her, I just don't like her. In the same way I don't like Obama.

I, like you, do not hate her. I so think she is unqualified. However some will never pass up an opportunity to attempt to insult you.

And I do think she would be the life of a party and a fun person to be around ... outside of politics.

I think its neither. Hate is never justified but there are reasons for strong dislike. I'm sure there's people here that claim to hate our president, but no one is asking if that's irrational or demonic. I definitely don't think its demonic.
