For example the IFB churches that I have experienced, believe that a person can not truly be saved if they read a version of scripture other than the King James Version.

No version of the Bible saves anyone, I read the KJV!... Brother Glen:)

John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

Two wrongs don't make a right. Apparently the writer is reacting to those who don't think you should call the King James a "Version" of the Bible, then he winds up on the opposite extreme that it is wrong to say "King James Bible." Just more of the nonsensical stuff that produces smoke and heat but very little light.
I'd be interested to know whether he campaigns that the NASB should be the NASV.

Some holding to KJVO seem to elevate the Kjv to 4th part of the trinity, same ways some catholics do Mary!

Then let me clarify it... I'm KJVO but I'm not in or of the camp... My reason is mine alone... That is why I do not discuss versions they are of no benefit to me... Brother Glen:)

Not according to the paradigm set up by the Baptist Board moderatorship:
    Definitions of KJV Only

I'm not bound by their preference of definition.

Neither am I bound by yours, nor you by mine. However, their paradigm does show that "yours and mine" are not the only ones.

Agreed, and I was clarifying to you what I mean when I say KJVO. So to me, you are not KJVO, you are KJV preferred.

I think you were actually commenting to Glen (Tyndale) about that, and I inserted myself into it -- knowing he is not KJVO in the Ruckman sense is why I mentioned it. (And that he is just a nice guy who doesn't like to argue as much as we do :Biggrin)

Would you suggest that the English versions of which the KJV was a revision and without much there would have been no KJV are of no benefit to you?

Sometimes one or more of the pre-1611 English Bibles were clearer, better, or more accurate in translating than the rendering in the 1611 KJV.

Perhaps you could harm yourself by being close-minded or by being unwilling to learn from another English version.

Quite to the contrary - He agrees that that the King James IS (only) a version - the author went on to say that those who are KJO believe:
"that the KJV is literally THE original BIBLE".

I call all Bible versions "versions". You mighta noticed I toss sarcasm at those who post "KJB" since I know the KJV is just a version, not "the" Bible. However, when referring to a given version that's not been specified in the context, I call it a "Bible".

And I generally write "NASV' or "HCSV" when referring to those versions.

But I see the author in Salty's link knows the KJVOs' "Psalm 12:6-7 thingie" is false, as V7 is about PEOPLE, not about God's words.

And - I have yet to see any KJVO who will DARE address the fact that the KJVO myth has absolutely NO Scriptural support.
