I know you're not making it up.

Huckabee is a piece of work, but he's not Presidential material.

It was a bit odd...but the point is that he didn't show it to the masses. It wasn't aired on TV. Showing it to some reporters to prove he actually had one is not the same as showing it to the public as a "see-what-I-wasn't-going-to-show" fiasco.

The point is that he did not show it to the public. Honestly, if a candidate said that he had a negative attack ad but decided not to run it, people would say that he really didn't have an ad because no one would spend that money and then not use it. Or it would appear that he had no negative material on the other person.

I wish it hadn't had happened, because I feel good about Huckabee (and also feel good about Thompson, Hunter, and Romney) and don't want to give the media anymore ammunition. But let's be honest about the matter.

I like what one of the blogggers had to say about the ad , it explains why the ad was just too dumb to run.

This was a free way to get a negative ad out there without paying for it. Either Huckabee is naive or transparently cunning to the point of attacking a man while trying to distance himself from it. If you're going to attack a man, do it or don't do it. I thought this was a poor move by Huck.

You forgot "then aired a free commercial via a publicity stunt."

Oh there is nothing naive about this. IMO, Huckabee knew exactly what he ws doing.

There is a part of me that wants to support Huckabee, but something just does not sit well with me and I do not know what it is yet, but a move like this does not help him in my book.

Yeah, Hucakbee's attack add withdrawal was too cute by half. I wonder how many hits it has had on Youtube?

Here's another problem I have with Huckabee. In his major foreign affairs speech, he criticized the Bush administration for having a "bunker mentality" and for being "arrogant". But, last Sunday on Meet the Press, Huckabee said that he would send forces into Pakistan to find Ben Laden without the permission of the Pakistani government even if it destabilized the Mussharaf (sp???) government. Wow! Go Meek and Mild Mike!
