Not so! The Companion Bible, published by Samuel Bagster and Sons Limited, London, is much more "extensive." In the N.T., the notes and outlines consume 60 to 70 percent of the page without the commentary found in the NIV Study Bible. The Appendixes is 227 pages long.

The Logos International Study Bible includes many thousands of variorum readings and renderings that are not found in the NIV Study Bible, making it 450 pages longer.

Good choices! The notes in the NIV Study Bible are excellent. The only problem with them was that they were always bound in the same book as the NIV translation of the Bible. But now we can have the "best of both worlds," the NIV study notes and the NASB translation of the Bible bound together in one book. [IMG] [IMG]

I agree. I have the Companion Bible and it is probably the most comprehensive study bible ever published. The appendixes are online at http://www.therain.org/appendixes/

Bullinger was a brilliant man, educated at King's College, London with a Doctorate from Oxford, who wrote extensively. He died in 1913 at age 76. Another excellent resource written by him is "Figures of Speech Used In the Bible."

In fact, any of his books are well worth the investment! Here is a partial list.

Book Of Job, The by E. W. Bullinger. 224pp.

Chief Musician, The by E. W. Bullinger.

Christian's Greatest Need, The by E. W. Bullinger.

Church Epistles by E. W. Bullinger. Bullinger defends all of Paul’s epistles as God’s unique revelation, expounding the great truth of the mystery, the Body of Christ. In this volume he focuses on Paul’s letters written to the churches. 261pp.

Commentary On Revelation by E. W. Bullinger. A book both practical and profound. Bullinger shares his insights in a compelling and clear manner. The theme of the book ("The Day of the Lord") is presented in this verse by verse study. 768pp.

Companion Bible Notes and Appendices by E. W. Bullinger. A classic one-volume study Bible in the KJV. The 198 appendices include: explanations of words and their use, charts, parallel passages, maps, lists of proper names, calendars, and timelines.

    Companion Bible New Testament

Companion Bible Appendixes The full 198 appendices from the Companion Bible, printed separately. 227pp.

Critical Lexicon & Concordance to the English & Greek New Testament by E. W. Bullinger. English words appear in alphabetical order along with the equivalent Greek words, their literal and derivative meanings, and a list of passages in which they appear. Includes a comprehensive Greek-English index. 1040pp

Divine Names and Titles by E. W. Bullinger.

Figures of Speech Used In the Bible by E. W. Bullinger. Bible students have made serious blunders through the inattention to figures of speech, clouding the real meaning of many important passages of Scripture. Bullinger's work, first published in 1898, clarifies 217 distinct figures of speech used in the Bible. In systematic order, this classic gives the proper pronunciation of each figure of speech, its etymology or origin, and a number of Scripture passages where the figure of speech is used, giving full explanation of its use in each context. It cites nearly eight thousand Bible passages and includes five appendices and seven indexes, making it even more valuable as a reference tool. No other work approaches the scope and detail of this field of study. 1104pp

Foundations of Dispensational Truth by E. W. Bullinger. 287pp.

Great Cloud of Witnesses in Hebrews Chapter 11 by E. W. Bullinger (1837-1913). A great classic exposition of this famous and beloved passage, including an examination of the greatest heroes of the faith. Full of rich, practical applications. 472pp.

How To Enjoy the Bible by E. W. Bullinger. A unique introduction to your study of God's Word. You’re guided in the adventure of open and honest study of the Scripture from within -- allowing it to speak for itself. Twelve practical principles make inductive Bible study come alive. 464pp.

Isaiah: Its Structure And Scope by E. W. Bullinger.

King Saul and the Witch of Endor: Did the Prophet Samuel Rise at Her Bidding? by E. W. Bullinger. This is a short read yet full of intriguing and perhaps controversial ideas for you to consider.

Name of Jehovah in the Book of Esther, The by E. W. Bullinger.

Names and Order of the Books of the Old Testament by E. W. Bullinger.

Number In Scripture: Its Supernatural Design and Spiritual Significance by E. W. Bullinger. A complete synopsis of every significant number found in the Bible; one of the most famous and helpful reference books on numerology ever written. 320pp.

Prayers Of Ephesians, The by E. W. Bullinger.

Rich Man and Lazarus, The Intermediate State by E. W. Bullinger. It is the author's contention that when dealing with the subject of what happens at death, it is important that Christians confine themselves to what the Bible has to say and not turn to tradition. Some current views have more in common with the traditions taught by the Pharisees than with the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth by E. W. Bullinger.

Second Advent in Relation to the Jew by E. W. Bullinger.

    Selected Writings by E. W. Bullinger. 296pp

Ten Sermons on the Second Advent by E. W. Bullinger. A look at the Second Coming from both the Old and New Testaments. 144pp.

Things to Come by E. W. Bullinger. This is a 7 volume limited edition hardbound reprint of Bullinger’s Bible study periodical Things to Come. These were originally published from 1894-1915. 7 volume set. 3260pp.

Two Natures of the Child of God by E. W. Bullinger. 52pp.

Witness of the Stars, The by E. W. Bullinger. An in-depth study of the constellations and principle stars as they pertain to prophetic truth. More than forty charts and diagrams are included. 296pp.

Word Studies on the Holy Spirit by E. W. Bullinger. (Foreword by Warren W. Wiersbe) Each of the 385 occurrences of pneuma ("spirit") in the N.T. is examined. 232pp.

I have some disagreements with his "Dispensational Truth" in that he goes over into hyper dispensationalism on occasion, and which his "Witness of the Stars" which is nothing more than "Christian" astrology, but I have included them anyway and will let you decide how accurate they are.
