    Good day! Glad to see you here.

    The reason this thread was started here was to encourage the non-baptists to join in the fellowship. It was never successful, and only a very few people actually engaged at the time.

    We are back home now after 41/2 hours in the ER.

    Rob was feeling so much better today so he thought he would potter around and make some book shelves, which is fine but then, when clearing up he got his finger injured clearing the biscuit jointer. Yes, well of course he should have known better but now he is nursing 2 injured fingers, one with a fracture and now we add the fracture clinic to our list of dr and hospital appointments.

    It is such a blessing that I can drive.....

    Okay Sheila, I may sound like a dummy here, but what is a biscuit jointer?
    Otherwise, I do pray that Rob will heal soon.

    Hi folks. We got our first snow to-day. Not much, but at least it was white and not water.

    All is well here ,within reason.

    A biscuit jointer is a tool which cuts those fingers in wood that join together like tongue and groove.....Then, you never can tell with these Englanders! They could also be little sweet biscuits.

    I had a little problem with electric wiring to-day. A squirrel go into the wall and chewed a wire....that is a mess to work on. Took me all day and prolly tomorrow as well, and then to repair the walls.........

    My daughter takes tools away from me. She figures I can't use them anymore. I'm going to send her off to England again to get some freedom!

    Hello Charles and Jim :)

    Charles, Jim gave a very good description of a biscuit jointer. Rob was making shelves for a friend who has recently moved house. He is going to be out of action for a little while now but at least he had finished the work and was clearing up when he had the accident. We go back to the fracture clinic tomorrow.

    We got our first Christmas card in the post today :) I haven't even written any yet - Rob keeps me busy with all the various dr and hospital appointments.

    Have you had anymore snow Jim? I don't envy you.

    Lev 8:26 speaks of unleavened cake. In England we used to call them "biscuits". The Brit fingers are usually flat and crisp.

    Rob was making shelves for a friend who has recently moved house. The plan is to fit out an alcove to house most of her books :)

    Biscuits are little bits of tongue and groove joint, biscuits are the tongues and the grooves are in his fingers ...:laugh:

    It is a way of joining wood together to make deeper shelves - eventually :laugh:

    Actually, I had some training in carpentry. I certainly heard of tongue and groove joints, but never knew of any reference to biscuits.

    Biscuit joints are finer that any other type of joint and prevent warpage, which is important on shelves and table tops usually made with hardwoods.

    Rob is really enjoying making these shelves for our friend. They are going to fit in an alcove in her dining room and should look really good when they are finished.
    Rob has been feeling a bit better recently and has been enjoying pottering around although he is exhausted by the afternoon. It is so good to see him going some woodwork again. :)

    It is such a shame to see this thread apparently deserted.

    I do hope others will join in and share in here.

    For us it has been a busy year so far. Rob has had surgery on his eye to extend his tarrsorophy (his eye has been sewn up a bit more) and he may now have to have more surgery to correct a droopy eye lid. We have been busy working on the house and garden but we think we may have to move to somewhere more easily managable. I am still trying to declutter. I am still trying to persuade Rob to declutter his 2 sheds. I am not being very successful.

    My studies have sadly fallen by the wayside but I hope to resume them sometime next year. I ran out of time to completel my masters degree when Rob was so poorly last year. I am trying to keep up with some reading in order to keep the little grey cells ticking over.

    I am glad to hear the update on Rob. It is good to see you posting! Flylady.com is a great website to help with cleaning up the clutter.

    My girls and I just started another year of home schooling. They are enjoying their studies and keeping busy. We've had a wonderful Christian home school family move to our town and their children and mine are so happy to play together.

    My oldest daughter is the same age as their youngest daughter, and they have formed a fast friendship. Their youngest son is just a year older than my youngest daughter.

    The mom and I have similar interests in quilting and canning, too.
