LOS ANGELES (AP) - The DVD of Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" went on sale Tuesday and sold 2.4 million copies by midday.

He said "The Passion" is on track to sell as well as other Hollywood blockbusters like "Spider-Man" and "The Lord of the Rings" movies, which topped out between 15 million and 18 million total DVD sales.

"The Passion," starring Jim Caviezel as Jesus, became one of the year's biggest blockbusters, earning a place among the top 10 highest-grossing movies of all time with more than $370 million at the North American box office.

It was first a worldwide blockbuster -- and now Mel Gibson's controversial biblical epic "The Passion of The Christ" is on track to be a best-selling DVD.

The DVD sold 4.1 million copies in first day of release, distributor Fox Home Entertainment said Wednesday. More than 2.4 million of those copies were sold by midday Tuesday.

I bought it the first day too. Watched it last night, I didn't get to see it in the theatre, and it was worth waiting for.

Why do we need an image to worship the True and Living God. 2nd commandment!

The Bible is the best selling book of all time, so I suppose it makes sense that The Passion will be the highest ever selling DVD.

The Passion is not images used to Worship God, rather a tranlation of the Bible on DVD.

It's also an effective witnessing tool. We showed it in church last night, and two souls were saved! Praise God! The few scenes taken from Catholic tradition did little to take from the powerful message of the film. In Christ, WT [IMG]

With all Due respect, HORSE HOCKEY!

The Passion of The Christ is a Water-Down, Catholic'ized Movie, that exalts Mary to that of an Intersessor with Jesus Christ. Mary, If anything, thought her son Jesus was crazy for thinking He was the Christ. In fact, When she came to see him, when Jesus said, "Who is my Mother?" She was coming the lay hold of him, because she felt he'd gone mad.

Further more, The Movie was NOT based on the Gospel of Bible, But rather a book called "The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ" By Anne Catherine Emmerich, A 17'th Century Nun who CLAIMED to a have a vision of the Death, Burial, and ressurection of Christ. She also was into Mistic pratices as well.

Now, do you want you people watching a movie based on this? Not me. I want the TRUE GOSPEL, not some movie directed by a lover of the Great Whore of Revelation 17.

Hey *******, what's the title of the movie? The theme of the picture is His sufferings. It was meant to show how Jesus suffered for the sins of the world. And it did.

Did you even see the movie?

</font>[/QUOTE]First off, Name calling is not allowed. So, if your going to resort this, go debate someone else.

Second of all, the movie is a Catholic'ized Movie. sorry if that bothers you.

Chick preaches a hate-filled Pharisaic false gospel! Even the papists are closer to real Christian doctrine than Chick.

Bottom line: Was Mel Gibson following the leading of THE HOLY SPIRIT or some other spirit? He went to mass EVERY DAY TO BE SQUEEKY CLEAN in order to make this movie. The lead character was using "saint" relics to keep him close to God. Is that the leading of the Holy Spirit. The bible says that we will be saved by the preaching of the gospel not by media blasts of visual images. This movie is catholic through and through just so we will accept them as true christians. The popes have been and will always be anti-christs(vicars of christ).

    Apologies.

Now it's a Catholic'ized Movie. Before it was a Catholic'ized "Gospel." Make up your mind.

What bothers me is guys like you who claim the movie presents a false gospel when it does no such thing.

Also, you didn't answer my question:

    Did you see the movie?

You know I don't think it's a Catholic movie. And I was raised Catholic. I think it's a Christian movie. I don't think that Mel Gibson is just trying to make a buck. I think he appraoched this SERIOUSLY. He didn't look for other funding either. He did it out of his own pocket. I hate to say this, but i'm wondering what movie you really did see. Cause it cannot be the same Passion I saw. Was there another version in wal-mart?
