I caught some of Virgil Goode's speech on C-Span but it was so boring, I had to flip channels. He was not inspiring and you are right, he is not a good speaker. If a third party would ever hope to win, they would have to have someone dynamic. And if the delegates don't bother to show up, well, that pretty much says it all.

A couple of months ago, I met someone via the internet who has a campaign to run against one of our senators. We had a meeting set up at a Tea Party convention. She had signed up to have a booth/table to pass out brochures, etc. I showed up and she didn't for our prearranged meeting. Well, she blew the chance to meet and greet the TP folks and hand out literature. Now to run against an incumbent on a shoe string is hard enough, but why would someone blow a perfectly good chance to meet and target the crowd you were hoping to help get your campaign off the ground? Not an email, not a phone call, that night or since. I was irked, too. I was willing to help her with her campaign. So, it seems there are people out there who want to challenge the status quo but aren't willing to get where the rubber meets the road.....

Well, at least when you were in Nashville, I hope you got some good eats somewhere so the whole trip wasn't a wash.

We only live about 140 miles from Nashville, and have been there several times. It is the closest place with an airport of any size. In addition to the Sheridan, we have been Opry Mills, and when it was open, we took the kids to Opryland several times. Nashville always has a great variety of restaurants. We are planning on going to the Hermitage and the Polk library in the near future.

He could not have been a true JW if he were because JW's are not allowed to participate in "politics" (at least now).
