Do you believe the rapture will happen in your lifetime?

    How old are you?

SPFJ, Welcome to the BB! [IMG] I moved this poll from the Welcome Forum, for it does not belong there. By the way, you did not give enough choises for the arrival of the rapture - like: Dont know (which is the truth). [IMG] [IMG]

Thank you. Yes you are correct, I should have a given another choice for: I don't know. The truth is we do not know the day or the hour, but only the season...which (to me) seems to be in full bloom.

I don't know, but I wouldn't be suprised if the second coming occurred in my lifetime.

StefanM, May I ask you why you feel that way? Anything in specific?

Did you see the report at Ft.com, regarding the electronic implants by a company for their employees? Article dated 02.12.06

The rapture could take place before I die, or it could be 1,000 years away. Do you have a link to the FT.com article?

I did hear about that article.

I just feel like the world is sufficiently bad at this point (without any real improvement in sight) to slide right into the end. I don't know if it's anything specific.

I couldn't vote - not the right choice...

But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Hi! I Am Blessed...yes, already noted earlier, sorry about that. I guess this poll is a matter of personal opinion rather than a theological discussion...basing upon what is happeniong around the world and the fulfillment of Daniel 12:4

So many people have believed it would happen in their lifetime, and it didnt. I think some of us will be surprised "how" it happens, as we all think that it will happen the way we believe it will, and we might just be wrong. [IMG]

While we truly do not know the day, nor the hour, the question, is a great one.

I voted yes, in my lifetime, because I think we should all look forward to the day when He calls His children home.

The Word of God does give indication of what the times will be like and we certainly are living in times that would indicate a soon coming of our Lord.

We read that 'Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.' 2 Timothy 4:8

So we are to look for the rapture, We are to be ever ready that that day 'should not overtake us a thief in the night'.

Do we know the day or hour? No, but we do know that we are to be ready and love His appearing!

Well, obviously I concur with the viewpoint of being ready and "looking for the blessed return of our Lord." Seems like there is a lot of "end-time" prophecy being fulfilled in our lifetime...which may be the "writing on the wall" sort-to-speak, of His soon return.

    I voted "YES" too....& over 40 :)

I like having the choice of "how old are you?" as the answer rather than indicating my age. [IMG]

I noticed that someone voted for that - but it wasn't me! [IMG]

Two things back in Paul's day they thought it immienent...yet never occurred and it has been a very long time to us.

Another thing the return of Christ is immovable that is it stays set in one place like a goal or
a beacon and as we travel the procession of time
    of course it gets closer.

SPFJ, welcome to the BB. Good poll. I voted "No" for two reasons.

One, personally I don't think that there will be a secret rapture. Thus, I don't think that the rapture will occur in my lifetime or otherwise. The whole idea of a rapture is present in only of the four main millenial views. Surprisingly, in a recent BB poll only 27% concurred with a dispensational pre-mil view.

Two, I don't think the second coming will be in my lifetime either.

However, I do agree with SFIC (there's a first!) -- "Do we know the day or hour? No, but we do know that we are to be ready and love His appearing!"

FriendofSpurgeon: //One, personally I don't think that there will be a secret rapture.//

If you would take a poll, NOBODY on BB believes
in 'a secret ratpure'. If you would read BB you
would find the only people who introduce the term 'secret rapture'
on the board are clearly against the
    pre-tribulation rapture/resurrection.
Thus we must consider the 'secret rapture' a strawman.
But you did slay the windmill/dragon with great dispatch [IMG]

The whole idea of a rapture is present in only of the four main millenial views. Surprisingly, in a recent BB poll only 27% concurred with a dispensational pre-mil view.

    Here are the current figures:

    http://www.baptistboard.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php/topic/39/1577.html

Poll Results: View of the End Times (27 votes.)
My view of the end times is best described as
    Choose 1
    Historic Premillennial 19% (5)

    Dispensational Premillenial 30% (8)

    Amillenial 30% (8)

    Postmillenial 0% (0)

    Not described above 22% (6)

What is NOT mentioned is that many Historic PRemillennials
belive in a rapture (1 Thessalonians 4:17 'caught up').
What is not mentioned is that some Amills believe in
    a rapture (1 Thessalonians 4:17 'caught up').
What is not mentioned is that some 'not described above's
believe in a rapture (1 Thessalonians 4:17 'caught up').

So though only "27% concurred with a dispensational
pre-mil view", probably 70% believe there is a
rapture (1 Thessalonians 4:17 'caught up') as described
    in the scripture.

Pretrib pre-mills believe the rapture (1 Thessalonians 4:17 'caught up')
is an event seperate from the coming of Jesus in power and
glory to defeat the antichrist and set up a millinnial messanic kingdom.
Post-trib pre-mills believe the rapture happens the same work-day
as the oming of Jesus in power and
glory to defeat the antichrist and set up a millinnial messanic kingdom.

    Only anti-pretrib Christians
deny the rapture (1 Thessalonians 4:17 'caught up').
