The Redaction of Genesis by Gary Rendsburg
Winona Lake, IN: Eisenbrauns, 1996), 129pps.

This short book is one of the most exciting books I've read on Genesis recently.
Gary Rendsburg takes issue with the JEPD theory in the formation of Genesis.
Using a form critical approach he focuses on the chiastic structures embedded in the text to reinforce its unity and purpose.

Don't let the scholarly title disuade you from reading it; it is written in easily understandable language aided by an occasional outline showing the structural aspect of the text.

While you may disagree with some of his conclusions, his presentation is exciting and reveals a deep understanding and familiarity with Scripture.
As my Sunday morning bible class slowly works through Genesis 12-22 they will benefit from this book.

The book is currently out of print but is available on the net.
Here's a PDF copy of the book for those that are interested.
