I like scary movies and always have. None of the 'chop 'em up' type movies tho.

This 'Ring 2' movie is advertised constantly right now and I wondered if any of you like scary movies and which ones do you think are okay or not okay.

    We liked:
    Signs
    Unbreakable
    Sixth Sense
    The Village
    Legend of Sleepy Hollow
    The Ring

    What do you think about:
    White Noise
(someone add more that I might not think about)

We either wait until they're on t.v. or buy them when they're on sale, get them as gifts, etc.

I have seen all the movies on your list but one, and thought they were all great, although, I really don't think of them as "scary" movies as much as they are suspense thrillers. They were great.

Another great movie is the mini-series by Stephen King: The Storm of the Century. Now, that one will give you the creepy crawlies.

Now that's funny Soulman. I usually don't like scarey movies (to much blood and guts), but I did like the Grudge. It was more old fashion type scarey and you KNEW something was about to jump out at you but still gasped when it did. We thought is was great fun. It wasn't terribly gross either.

Joseph, I agree with you that "Storm of the Century" was vey creepy.

We like them Diane, but like you, not the chopem up kind, those are nasty. I liked The Ring, Robert didn't, I plan on seeing part 2, he'll watch just becasue it's a movie.
We also liked the ones you listed, no "blood and guts"(quote from above).

Diane, you might like The Unforgotten too, we saw it at the theatre last year and we liked it, no gore, a lot of suspense.

I saw all the movies you list except "White Noise" which got terrible reviews, and the subject matter bothers me (hearing from the dead through white noise machines -- this is an actual practice).

I did not like the Sleepy Hollow movie -- I can't recall why.

"Sixth Sense" was good but the message disturbed me -- that the boy had a gift of communicating with the dead and he can use it to help the living. This kind of thinking is getting more popular, witness the tv show "Medium", based on a real medium with the same name, and which has been called a mid-season hit.

The mediums' books are all bestsellers (Sylvia Browne, Van Praagh, John Edward). I get emails from people asking me I can help them contact a dead relative or know a good medium (they see my article on Spirit Contact, I guess, but don't read it all the way through).

Ring 2 got terrible reviews in the paper here. I saw "The Ring" and thought it was very scary; will not see Ring 2.

I like suspense movies better than scary movies. Before I was a Christian, I liked horror movies and really dark and bizarre films like "Twin Peaks." I loved the Nightmare on Elm Street movies -- back then. Before I was a Christian. My taste for the bizarre and dark has gradually been fading away since 1991.

    Hi Diane,
My daughter and I did not make it to see the Ring 2, yet. We are still planning to go, just not sure exactly when. I'll still let you know when we do go.
