What irks me about the gluttony situation (and gossip) the two big G's is the way the local church gives them a wink and a nod. Yet the church worries about people dancing, lottery tickets, an occasional drink, what movies we go to, etc, mostly things that are not a sin in the first place. But during the pot lucks, you see 300 pound people going for seconds patting their stomach and other members saying some encouraging phrase. I once observed at a pot luck someone about that size, maybe larger, sitting at a table with his mouth stuffed full of food. While his mouth was full of food, he was trying to talk, and the subject of his talk was about what another member had done the previous week. Now that is talent. Gluttony and gossip at the same time. Guess you would call that Scriptural multitasking.

Proverbs says at one point, I do not recall the exact chapter, but the concept is some have gotten so lazy, and so stuffed with food, they will not even pick up their utensils to eat with. They want someone to do it for them. They "fold their hands" and sleep before the meal is over.

Overweight and obese could be caused by a medical condition but usually not. I work a couple of days a week in security since retiring at a PVC plant. It requires a lot of sitting and paperwork, but when I can, get out and walk. I agree with Sapper, there is always time to at least walk and burn some of those calories. One will find though, it is only about 20 % that exercise helps lose weight. The problem and the solution is mostly about what you eat and how much.
