He didn't match the King and kingdom they expected. Would you have sided with them? Thinking their kingdom idea is correct and Jesus' wrong?

Dave, American Baptists have worked their way through at least two major confesstions\statements of faith since the London confessions; the Philadelphia and New Hampshire. Personally, I believe the New Hampshire Statement of Faith best represents my positions. What is your opinion of the NHSF?

You might think so but the Sermon on the Mount forms the basis of all NT ethics. Paul recites much of it. Matthew calls it the doctrine of Christ. John says any who does not have the doctrine of Christ does not have God. I made a career out of living the Sermon while most spend their time seeking money and careers.

Where does he call himself YHWH? He didn't match the Pharisee's kingdom so they rejected him. He blinded them so they could not see it. Is it good for Christians" to think like them in terms of the kingdom?

They are based on Jesus's teachings. John says you are not saved apart from having his teaching.

The Sermon on the Mount describes the ethics of the coming Kingdom, but to actually know how to get the enabling to be able to do that right living, get into the Epistles!

His teachings are those in the Epistles, as He inspired them!

If you ignore the Sermon on the Mount, you are not saved according to Apostle John. Also what about the gospel of the kingdom? You don't believe it thinking the kingdom is physical and of the future. How does that square with whoever believes the gospel has eternal life?

But it was the kingdom issue that didn't match their view of the Messiah.

The Sermon is your duty as a "Christian" if you don't have that. you don't have Christ according to John.

God’s only plan for Salvation was His only provided Atonement. You all are arguing over doctrine and theology.

The Sermon describes in detail just what it meant to keep the law as God intended, not my manifesto!

Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ (Sermon on the Mount Matthew 7:28,) hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: for he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.2 John 9–11 (KJV 1900)

Notice the Sermon IS the DOCTRINE of Christ.“And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:” Matthew 7:28 (KJV 1900)
