    I see that I failed to answer this. Sorry.

    Are we talking difficult theologically, exegetically, semantically, or in syntax? Some of these are surprisingly easy, but others one might think to be easy turn out hard. Any examples for me to go from?

    This morning our linguistics prof and I were on line with one of our translators (in our MA program) who is on an internship, but is currently in the Middle East planting a church. He is a native speaker of Farsi, translating Genesis into it. We spent a surprising amount of time on Genesis 4:21-22, a seemingly straightforward passage. Some of the questions were:
    What is the equivalent of a "harp" here?
    What is the equivalent of an "organ" here?
    The Hebrew for "instructor" in the KJV is "sharpener." What do we do with that? Why is that word used?
    How do you translate the Hebrew for "artificer"?

    I'm enjoying a book about Frances Ridley Havergal called "Ever, Only, All For Thee." (the last words of her hymn --Take my life, and let it be) The author is Pamela D. Bugden. I'm nine pages from the ending.
    Anyway, she wrote an essay for children about the life of Arthur Phillips a year before she died. Here is a line pertinent to this thread :
    "If you really love any one, you are sure to try to go and be with them when you can." (My emphasis)

    Peter Hessler is an excellent author. He spent a lot of time in China. He doesn't seem to be a Christian. But his books are fascinating. His best known work was very popular "River Town" Presently I'm going through "Country Driving : A Chinese Road Trip." On page 298 there's a sentence that no one would trip over because it is so natural "Whenever somebody approached the mother, she ignored them."

    Peter's wife is Lesley T. Chang. Her first book was "Factory Girls: Voices From The Heart Of Modern China." It is excellent. I really wanted her to conduct more interviews with these women from rural areas that flock to industrial regions in order to improve their lives.
