Yes or No: should scripture be the guide of government as it makes and enforces laws and policies?

That is a really good question. And I can understand why some posters have refused to answer it. The answers would show us a lot about the character of those answering.

My answer is "No on the governmental level." Government is supposed, by our Constitution, to be neutral to religion. Government cannot favor one religion over another thus "establishing" that religion as being official or recognized.

But my answer is "Yes on the individual level." Those in government who claim the Name of Christ should allow the teachings of Christ as found in Scripture be their guide in governing our country.

You demonstrated very well why it was a sophomoric question. Thanks.

Now, should a Muslim or a Hindu, if elected to Congress, put their religious beliefs ahead of the Constitution when it comes to voting for or against a proposed law?

You seem to have missed the point. Nobody should put their religious belief ahead of the Constitution when it comes to making laws.

No, I understood your point clearly. But I am not sure some on the BB would agree and I wanted an answer from them, especially the person who posed the question.

I totally agree with you. We do not live in a theocracy.

So you're using Jesus' name to demand people give more, at the same time saying his principals do not need to dictate how that money is spread around.

Then why this thread?-- nothing but a silly straw man indicating trump and conservatives oppose scripture because they don't rule by it. So why don't you answer simple questions as to whether scripture should be the essence of rule?

Your question has been adequately answered by someone else.

The OP is quite spot-on though I do not believe you will ever understand or admit you understand.

Not quite. You left one out.

Jesus never said give all your worldly goods to the government to distribute the way it sees fit and come and follow me.

There's more, but you won't like 'em. They don't quite fit your worldly agenda.

So like his giving, Crabtownboy prefers others answer challenges posed to him.

Anyway we should praise God abortions won't be federally funded.

And for the crackdown on welfare and entitlement frauds.

And folks who have broken the law to be here now fear being sent back. Jesus never told us to encourage any lawbreaking.

And the transgender silliness is about to get some pushback.

It's like CTBoy is a born again Trumper.

I already have. So now, what is your response to these things Jesus did not say?...

Blessed are those who try to force others against their will to reward sloth.

I was sent to minister to the gentile dogs as well as to the Jews.

A woman can divorce a husband who beats her, and even remarry if she wishes.

Never rebuke your brother or sister who sins against you.

You will still be married to your earthly spouse in the world to come.

People will be taken by surprise, as in the days of Noah-- if he had really existed.

You are right, Jesus never said those things. But neither has Trump or his administration where as Trump and his administration has advocated those negative ideas expressed in the OP.
