Anyone who thinks this is not conspiracy might as well remove the word from their dictionaries.

One theory which I heard put forth is that there is a plan to remove Trump, this year. Arrest Pence on bogus charges.Install Pelosi as president. She will make Hillary Clinton her veep. Pelosi will then resign, making Clinton the president where she can run as incumbent president against a milquetoasty Republican of the John McCain genre, winning the election with an ensuing bloodbath aimed at Trump people and supporters.

The mockery of America continues throughout the democrat campaign, no American flag on their debate stage.......again. I guess that might offend their base?

Nothing surprises me anymore. I have grown weary of hearing that indictments os deep state operatives are just two weeks away. I guess that Mr. Trump will persue indictments during his second term, if he can get to his second term.

The Democrats are more like Communists and Socialists anymore. Those types are deceitful and dishonest as the day is long. A political coup, followed by a blood bath is to be expected when dealing with vermin such as that. Constitutional rights are reserved for them only, not for Americans with opposing points of view.

In that regard, our thinking is simular, if not alike. It's the reason that we sent a businessman to the Whitehouse in 2016.

Wow. Was the person that came up with this scenario a former writer of the TV show "24"?

Anyway, why wouldn't Pence remain the President if he got arrested? He'd get out on bail and report to the Oval Office within hours.

Why wouldn't Pence appoint a vice president? Wouldn't the House and Senate vote on Pence's nominee for vice president BEFORE they would consider elevating Pelosi to President?

Somehow, if Pelosi were to become President (oh look! a wild boar just flew by my window!) and she picked Hillary to be her VP, Hillary would have to be confirmed by both the House and the Senate before she could assume office. I don't see that happening.

If this extremely unlikely scenario were to play out and Pelosi were President and Hillary were VP, there is no way Pelosi would simply step aside and give up power.

I can't believe I just wasted five minutes typing this!

I can believe it. You are just bored. You needed to find something to gripe about.

Surely you remember the stories that Obama would refuse to leave office, that hundreds of thousands of body bags were being prepared for the victims of the civil war that would arise when the Democrats lost the election, that concentration camps were being prepared for the Republican opponents?

"The Paranoid Style in American Politics" is as pertinent today as when Richard Hofstadter wrote it more than 50 years ago.

I do remember that. I also remember the stories that Bill Clinton was not going to leave office, would declare a national emergency because of the uncertainty of the outcome of the 2000 election and declare martial law.

Then there were three stories that George W. Bush was not going to leave office because of the economic crisis.

There was also some scheme whereby Hillary was going to become president and appoint Bill Clinton to be VP.

And finally, leftists are saying that even if Trump loses the 2020 election he will engineer some crisis so as to have a reason not to leave office.

Hofstadter was a Columbia University professor, obviously a real smart guy. He was also an admirer of Karl Marx and a proponent of a concept known as consensus history. Consensus history is a fuzzy way of viewing history.

Why would you call his ideas pertinent to American society?

That's all very interesting, but I don't think you know anything about Hofstadter beyond what is on Wikipedia. Have you read any of his works? I really don't think that "he was an admirer of Karl Marx" says anything of value.

Marx was, in fact, a trenchant critic of capitalism in the mid to late 19th century. That is not to say that he didn't go wrong in so many ways. He was a materialist, which essentially reduces humans to the sum of their electrochemical responses and rejects any spiritual dimension. He also — like so many of his radical counterparts — deprecated the bourgeoisie freedoms that we take for granted: freedom of speech, freedom of religion, etc. This was hypocritical, of course, because he and his colleague Engels enjoyed great freedoms in England, an incipient bourgeoisie republic, but not in the despotic Germany that Marx grew up in.

As to Hofstadter's pertinence to contemporary society, the paranoid tendency in American politics is as alive as ever.

Yes, I've seen such things. I cannot determine how widespread such beliefs are. I give them no credence, just as I gave no credence to the previous conspiracies. If Trump loses the 2020 election, he will be ushered out of office. Seriously, who in the government would raise a finger to keep him from leaving the White House? Trump talks big, but he is just a temporary office holder. America is always bigger than whoever is president.

It is true that that without Wikipedia, I would know nothing about Hofstadter except that you like his work. Wikipedia listed the people credited with influencing this guy, and in checking them out, it looks like several of them were influenced by Marx. One of Hofstadter's "influencers" was reported to have been influenced by Hegel as well as Marx. I didn't see where the Bible was listed as an influence on Hofstadter.

I have to agree with you about the paranoia in politics today. AntiFa's attacks on Trump supporters, the bogus reporting which led to the creation of the Fizer warrant, a two-year special counsel investigation based on the unproven claims in the Steel dossier which led to the Fizer warrant, and now we have the bogus impeachment inquiry, and I call it bogus because the full house hasn't voted on it.

    Richard Hofstadter - Wikipedia

I am posting the Wikipedia link for Hofstadter in case anyone wants to see what I saw.

Glad to see Blarney made it back into the Dem campaign mess. Being an Indy, he's not banking on party funding, and it's likely he will run his own campaign no matter who the Dems nominate, thus splitting the vote as happened 'way back in 1860 with Breckinridge & Douglas both running as Dems, & Bell as "Constitutional Union" candidate. While the Dems had a popular vote advantage of several hundred thousand over Lincoln, that vote was divided between Breckinridge & Douglas, while Lincoln received all the GOP votes & thus won. I believe Blarney would draw 1/4 to 1/3 of the Dem votes, thus fatally weakening their results.
