Love it!! Honestly, I'd have such words for that man who was the heckler!! But absolutely, I've paid for other people's groceries before when they have been short on money and I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

Would you pay if the individual was buying a bunch of junk food?

You didn't answer my question

If you are going to do something nice for the person than do it or don't do it. They are probably already embarrassed at not having the funds so rifling through their cart looking for junk food is probably eclipsing the samaritan initiative you were beginning with. Let's not always look for problems or something to judge people about.

Ok. You got two folks who can't pay for their groceries. One's got a cart full of Doritoes & Ben & Jerry's. the other's got Inmfamil, baby aspirin and diapers. You can only afford to help one out. Is it wrong to glance into the carriage in that case ?

Perhaps it is because of the size of the town in which I live or the mentality of most of the inhabitants here, but helping someone in a poor spot would not be considered unusual.

I think we are overthinking this thing now. I mean, I could dream up all sorts of scenarios in which I would need to develop a charity hierarchy. In your case I guess I would probably help the parent getting baby stuff.

Don't even have to think about that one.
