A May return is very hopeful.

in the medical community it is still a week by week situation.

My wife, a dental hygienist, fears that her profession has ended. It certainly will change in drastic ways.

As a cardiac stress lab tech, I also will see major changes in how we approach testing.

Im currently cancelling tests we scheduled in May.
    maybe late June?

Huh? People still need dental work done - cavities, crowns, cleaning, dentures, etc.

The Chinese Communists have no intention of paying, in my opinion. I think that they will rob our corporations as they try to leave China. However, we owe them two trillion dollars that I hope that we never pay them.

Recent studies indicate that although coughing and sneezing spread the virus, it is BREATHED out in normal respirations even by asymptomatic individuals. People that have had the virus and recovered continue to be carriers, a reservoir of the virus.

Drilling, cleaning and polishing aersolizes material in the mouth that spreads throughout the room.
So dentistry is high risk profession.

Once a person leaves the room, the virus lingers there in the air.

Sure the need for the profession is still there but the costs of doing it are increasing sharply.

Protocols need to be developed, designed, tested and implemented before safety can be assured.

True, but there is no choice but for it to continue. Probably more so in a few months due to no telling how much sweets people and kids are consuming sitting around the house for weeks.

Yeah, there may be concerns about how extensive and enforceable something like that is. As long it is handled without the heavy hand of government involved it will be much better.

Those working in the healthcare industry have been through this before.
In the 1980’s, AIDS was the killer. We on the front lines cared for the sick and dying not really knowing how virulent the disease was. We took precautions and changed the industry:
Universal Precautions - the practice of avoiding contamination by means of the wearing protective clothing such as medical gloves, goggles, and face shields.

This virus takes it to a whole different level; the very air we breath in or out can become a source of illness. The caregiver and the client require protection from each other.

It will take some time to work out how the medical community will respond to this threat.
