Trump President Elect

Donald Trump is our President Elect.

I predicted Hillary would win.

I was wrong.

The question now is whether the President-elect will recognize the awesome responsibilities he is assuming. Millions of Americans have invested him with their hopes for a better future. Adversaries like China and Russia will soon test the mettle of the new Commander in Chief.

I was the same Hank. However, I was not nearly as confident after BREXIT as before. I realized the disease had already taken hold in German and England and thought the disease might jump the 'pond'.

The pain of the BREXIT has begun to be felt in the UK.

Here is how a friend who live in the Yorkshire Dells of England put it this morning:

Looked at many clever cartoons and well written pieces on the devastating US election result, but have chosen not to re-post.

Rather, to express a deep sadness inside myself and for my sons and grandsons and those they love. I realise the dates 23 June and 8 November 2016 will remain with me as I go on lamenting the collective folly of two once great nations. Nations who have done so much in promoting peace, justice, trade and positive attitudes in the world through such bodies as the Marshall Plan, UN and EU. I understand the disaffection of those outside the metropolitan elites in Washington DC and Westminster who feel politicians have ignored them and have now wrought their revenge. However, my prediction is that the ills of the rust belt in the US; of de-industrialised northern England and so on will not be solved by the decisions made on 23 June and 8 November. The Brexiteers and the Trumpeteers will fail to deliver their promised Utopia and we will all be poorer as in the UK and the US we turn in on ourselves; global markets crash; currencies collapse and xenophobia reigns.

Only if you're planning an expensive foreign holiday that isn't to Mexico. Otherwise, everything's fine. :)

It is no use for Hillary supporters to get into a huff like the Remainers in Britain. It's happened, and that's that. Here are three well-known texts to contemplate:
Psalm 118:8-9; Proverbs 21:1; 1 Timothy 2:1-2. So pray for Donald, even if you despise him, and wait and see what the Lord will do.

Look, Trump is a flawed individual by his own admission.
What was the alternative? another flawed individual, although many of the "flaws" are yet to be proven.

It seems the political philosophy of the "elite" simply became unacceptable to the American citizenry.

Trump needs now to make good his promises.

We are all watching, those who voted for him and those who did not.

The irony is that those Christians who lament Trump's election would have much more to lament had he lost. As much as they dislike Trump, they have reason to celebrate Clinton's defeat. There was absolutely no situation where a believer who opposed Trump (and there were many) could feel less sad had he lost.

Perhaps the silver lining for these Christians is that this election highlights the secular nature of our government. Neither Clinton or Trump seem to be believers, but at least now we may have a government that is less anti-Christian.

So, thinking for yourself instead of blindly following the failed policies of filthy rich elitist politicians from either party is a disease? #wow
