Now we know Trump is not only guilty of sexual assault but also fraud. What is next? Trump would never have settled if they did not have him dead-to-rights.

In what New York's attorney general called a "stunning reversal," president-elect Donald Trump agreed Friday to settle fraud cases involving Trump University for $25 million.

The cases involved a lawsuit by New York state and two class actions suits in California against the university, which promised to reveal Trump's real estate investing "secrets" to people who enrolled in the courses.

New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, who filed suit against Trump two years ago for what he called "his phony university," said the president-elect agreed to settle the lawsuits for $25 million and pay $1 million in penalties to the state of New York for violating state education laws.

"Today's $25 million settlement agreement is a stunning reversal by Donald Trump and a major victory for the over 6,000 victims of his fraudulent university,"

CTB, you know as well as I do, lawsuits get settled all the time if the cost of going to court is more than the out of court settlement. And that's regardless of the actual merits of the case.

Squire, do you really believe that the court costs would be over 25 million?

Do you really believe that Trump would cave just because of cost?

Knowing his history, do your not think he would have counter sued if he had a case?

Give me a break please. He and his lawyers must have realized that he was going to be found guilty.

Jkbuck, could care less about M. Jackson's case. Jackson was not going to be president. This totally unethical man who is a confessed criminal will be president. That should give you pause.

What would you be saying if this had been Obama? Be honest now.

I was including possible judgments. It's not about the merits of the case. It's about what you can get a jury to agree to, as I can't see the plaintiffs agreeing to a bench trial.

That alone shows he believed he would not win the case. Remember he said that he would not, out of principle, settle this case.

Knowing what we know about his bombastic personality and his perchance to sue settlement, to me, is an admission of guilt.

How would this settlement be viewed if it had been Obama?

Despite the fact that Trump did not technically admit fault in the case, the sheer size of the settlement payment is a major defeat for the brash and litigious billionaire. In addition to the money he’ll have to pay, the settlement undermines Trump’s frequent boasts that he “never settles” lawsuits against him.

Even as the Trump University case dragged into its fifth year this February, Trump remained defiant, pledging not to settle the lawsuit “out of principle!”
