Twitter and Trending

Most of my talking on the internet is right here. I do have a small FB account to talk to outer family and some service and high school friends, but it is rare. I notice on many of the news and opinion sites, there is a lot of talk about Twitter sites. I am not really sure what one does on Twitter compared to say, FB. Also, I notice certain news items, people, or quotes of people are "trending." Trending to me has always been related to statistics, such as on a graph, either up or down.

Does anyone have a Twitter account? What do you do on it? What does the word trending mean in relation to twitter or a news item/person/quote?

I have a twitter account. It's a world I discovered away from Baptist Board. lol.
You need to be able to be good at words to compress what you want to say in 140 characters at Twitter. u could use shortcuts, like I just did now, with "u".
and I type "and" as n or a slash/. "for" as a number 4, when appropriate.
in short, try to condense your thoughts into 140 characters.
then there are applications you can use. like "shorten url" if you want to post a link to your comments. some use instagrams to post pictures, but I like to use the application right there on twitter. works like it does on FB, but good for only one pic, though. you can also add videos or link to youtube, etc.
easy to open up an account.

trending is basically the way you described it.
like a subject is gaining momentum on twitter, it's referred to as "trending".
it's fun.
but it can be addicting.
so, "twit" with moderation. lol.

Thanks for the information. Yes, I will use it in moderation, unless of course, our church wants to add it to alcohol as a banned substance. LOL

I have an account because my daughter told me to. hehe

I don't really use it much. It took forever for me not to be an egg anymore.

It's fun though. Lots of random nonsense, but some use it for cool stuff, like info. Like it's supposed to be used! :laugh: I've fond out at times when someone I wanted to see would be on the air because of a tweet by him, or heard of a decent cause or a way to help someone.

The thing is, for it to be of any real use if you're not the one you want everyone to read, is to not "follow" very many people or the important stuff gets lost in a long list of meaningless tweets by people without much to say. Just follow your favorite coffee/store/newsperson or whoever you think might say something you don't want to miss, like that they're having an awesome sale, or they're updating on an important case, etc..

true, that. when I first started with twitter, I followed mostly on Christians, pastors, and churches, plus a few from the old country because sometimes you get news from tweets earlier than you do from the news sites.
Then the campaign season heated up, and I got so involved with politics and commentators.
Then Benghazi came and that heated the cauldron up a little bit more.
Now I don't know what to do to catch up with, like you said, the really important stuff.
So I'll prolly end up creating a second account and go back to just following Christendom tweeps.

I tweet a little but I usually just read what the other twits write more.

My favorite to follow is Unappreciated Pastor @Rev_Norespect. Several clean humor laughs a day.
