The Obama administration is putting tariffs of up to 250% on Chinese solar panels as an attempt to prop up the U.S. solar panel industry, which Obama has been unsuccessfully subsidizing.

Not all industry insiders were happy with the move:

"By increasing the price of modules and therefore the price of solar energy, these tariffs will undermine the success of the U.S. solar industry and reduce the ability of solar energy to compete with electricity generated from fossil fuel," Kevin Lapidus, senior vice president at solar energy provider SunEdison, said in a statement.

So government guaranteed loans to U.S. solar companies like Solyndra failed to move the market and now Obama decides to impose tariffs on imports to prop up U.S. manufacturers.

They are about $500 million of taxpayer dollars (down the drain) too late. (Solyndra)
