Special Report with Bret Baier on FNC showed cell phone video sent to them from Crimea by a Ukrainian citizen showing Russian utility and combat helicopters crossing the border illegally and landing troops this morning at airports near Simferopol and Simvastapol, securing the airports while allowing commercial flights to continue. Military observers, upon seeing the videos from the airports, identify the troops as Russian Spetsnaz -- Russian special forces -- even though the troops uniforms bear no insignia.Russian troops moved into Crimea Friday, U.S. officials told Fox News, prompting Ukraine to accuse Russia of an "armed invasion."
At the White House, President Obama said the U.S. government is "deeply concerned" by reports of Russian "military movements" and warned any violation of Ukraine's sovereignty would be "deeply destabilizing."
"There will be costs" for any military intervention, he said, without specifying what those costs might be.
U.S. officials told Fox News they see “evidence of air and maritime movement into and out of Crimea by Russian forces” although the Pentagon declined to officially "characterize" the movement.
This is an invasion. Nothing less. The democracy-loving peoples of Ukraine are about to brought back under the flag of a neo-Soviet republic craved by Russian president Vladimir Putin. This is only the first violation of a sovereign nation by the Russians. More will follow. The world is facing a crisis, and the only nation capable of responding appropriately is run by a Little Marxist Dictator in his own right, who hasn't the guts or the desire to respond as needed.
George W. Bush got the Russians out of Georgia in 2007 with two phone calls. Our Marxist dictator likely doesn't even know where the "red phone" is.
