Well if the universe is really collapsing as it gets older it will collapse faster and could get hotter as it also gets more spread out. Remember when Christ returns it will be the universe's last thousand years before the judgment. Revelation 20:4-11.

The article presented the opposite behavior, because the universe is expanding it is getting hotter. They sprinkled "dark matter" fairy dust over the claim to make it sound scientific!
