My perception of unjust balances is to search God's Word. Often times He used real life examples to proclaim a truth about Himself. He has alot to say about how we are to treat others. Jesus was particularly clear: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength; and your neighbor as yourself. He also stated that we should do unto others as we would have them do unto us.

I think that servant mentality is where it's at - treating everyone the same regardless of position, ethnicity, gender, and ableness [mentally and physically]. Jesus came as a servant holding no one above another - serving all with the ultimate sacrifice of Himself.

Unjust balances rears its ugly head when we forget the righteous and holiness of the One who gave us life. The more we know Him, the more we understand how far short we fall in righteous behavior. It is human nature to treat others difrerently for self effacement. Which is why it is a continual battle to put the flesh to death and allow the refinement of the Holy Spirit to transform and renew our minds.

As Paul instructed, we are to put the works of the flesh behind us, straining towards the goal, looking to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith. We are to strive towards Him that He may bring the Fruit of His Spirit out of us - that each person we deal with sees reflected through us, His love, peace, joy, kindness, meekness, longsuffering, goodness, faith, and self-control. This is His just balance.

Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is: love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith,
23 meekness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
24 But those belonging to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 Let us not become glory-seeking, provoking one another, envying one another.

To Whom It May Concern and other interested parties on the Baptist Board,

I joined this forum back in February hoping to be challenged by discussing God's Word with other believers and sharing what they have discovered about His Word and how it applies to life. I have always enjoyed good debating opportunities - iron sharpens iron. I also came looking for strong meat, but when some presented their views supported by scripture, it appeared as though they were not welcome here.

In the Shalom and Grace of Jesus, our Messiah, God, and King,
MalkyEL [Makayla - your sister in Christ]

That's what I meant by "fair". BTW, I have a disdain for the modern distortion of this word as well. Fair no longer means equitable, just, right. It means "I didn't get it my way."

What a shame... the loss of another perfectly good English word- sort of like "gay".

Fair, Hmmm..If life were fair the birds couldn't
eat the worms and you couldn't have hamburger for
lunch, but All God's ways are truth and justice.I do agree that we must deal honestly with one another but I believe that there is more to this
    scripture than that.
Since Christ came in the volume of the books then
those things spoken of in the law must speak of
Him and what he would do. Therefore just weights
and balances must speak of Christ. I believe that
the urim and thumim were keep in a bag (all his works)under the breastplate of judgement of the priest but I am
not certain of that and would need to study it
more. Because the priest was to rightly discern
and judge God's people, he was to do so according
to the scriptures without regard to the person.
This Christ certainly did when confronting his
adversaries and in many of his other works. The
son of Nebuchadnezzar was told by Daniel that he was weighed in the balances and found wanting.
Judgement is given to the Baptist church and is
to be executed as if Christ himself, the great high priest were doing the judging himself. Paul
rebuked the Church at Corinth for not rightly
judging the brother caught in adultery because
they had become puffed up. Just a few random
    thoughts thrown together.. Greg
