Mayor Kasim Reed said Jan. 6 that Cochran's failure to obtain proper city permission to publish the book and his refusal to remain silent about the matter during an investigation contributed to the firing.

So if you work for the City of Atlanta, you have to obtain permission to publish a book that has nothing to do with your job? ???

He was fired because his book opposed homsexuality

That's homosexuality. That's what it looks like even though Mayor Kasim Reed is saying that his not getting permission and talking about the matter contributed to his firing.

I just don't see why he would need permission to write a book that has nothing to do with his job.

According to the Fire Chief, Mayor Reed had a copy of the book for over a year. Don't know if that's true, it was just part of the radio report this morning.

There must be an election this year or something. Gonna have to check and see if he's up for re-election this year.

He got fired because he didn't step and fetch like a good boy for the Mayor and the Mayor is throwing a temper tantrum because he got called out. He expected the Chief to take his suspension, go to sensitivity training, and keep a low profile, scoring the Mayor major points with the LGBT folks in Atlanta and in his administration. Huge gay pride parade every year, they don't show, Atlanta loses millions.

Instead, the Chief spoke out and stood up for himself. Called the Mayor out on his lies. Created a storm of criticism for the Mayor and he had to do something or lose face with the gay crowd and risk revenue.

I watched the entire press conference. It was the town bully throwing a fit because someone stood up to him. Him pouting about the critical emails he received over Christmas was absolutely precious.
