HEY -- ARE WE ALL THROUGH BEING HOLIER THAN EACH OTHER?

    (NOTE: I said "we")

I pray for Hillary, that she'll get better.

I pray for President Bush, that he'll get better.

And I've got a whole list of other people that need praying for, too.

How about we all get on our knees and pray for a while today?

Don, thank you for a much needed post. I also pray for President Bush, Hillary and many others. I don't care what our political views are. Can we all
put politics aside to be kind to each other and pray for each other? Please?

Stop and think about non-Christians who may venture onto this forum. What must they think of us? What kind of an example are we setting?

I know this is off-topic. Sorry!

The purpose of this thread was to clear up any misperceptions that Sec Clinton was not ill and to encourage the members to pray for one of 'those in authority' as we are biblically enjoined.

The obvious purpose was to paint objection to oppressive and socialistic policies AND people as less than Christian if not anti-biblical.

The reason one is enjoined to pray for "all men" as well as "all in authority" (though neither the President nor the Secretary of State has no authority over me—but that's another issue) is for the purpose of the peace and freedom of Christians in the land. If Hillary's recovery or conversion works toward that end, then I desire it. If she, as an obstacle to peace and liberty, must be removed by the execution of justice through God's ministers thereof, or by God directly through affliction or death, then that is what I desire.

If she is converted and will no longer oppress, I will rejoice. If she perishes and can no longer oppress I will rejoice.

and it would probably have stayed that way if Paul1344 hadn't inserted that "America needs you" thing of his which he may or may not have posted innocently.
If Obama fell ill, no one would have objected to a post asking to pray for him, but if the post ends with, "America needs you", I betcha it'll stir up the same objections now.

I don't doubt she's really Ill. What I doubt is the impartiality and the motivation behind the O/P. No moderator chided Bill Wald's celebration of Breitbart's death. Not a single one. And please don't tell me it wasn't reported.

Following a Biblical example, David prayed for the destruction of those who would oppress. I can't find a single example of anyone in the Bible praying for their enemies to be healed so their evil can continue.

Perhaps there is one. Perhapssomeone can show me.

I think this refers to the present occupants of the White House.

...that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

Hmmm, seems like we should be praying for Godly leaders. Sorry, she does not qualify, and I consider my challenge unanswered.

It says all those in authority. When Paul wrote this he was talking about Nero. Part of the result in praying for leaders is that we can enjoy that quiet and peaceable life.

Noting there says to pray for only the godly in authority.

Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,

Note all men and all those in authority

    Hillary is not a man.:tongue3:

Given your interpretation of scripture, Stephen should have not scolded the Pharisees, as they were in authority over the Jewish citizens of Rome.

Hillary's end is not a quiet and peaceful life. She has been a warmongering statist her whole public life. I pray her and her neo-con cohorts will have their reign ended. I'm not too fussy about how it happens.

Fair enough. I appreciate the fact that you at least are open and honest about your feelings, though I totally disagree with your application of scripture.

Will leave the place of Pharisees for now, that would divert the topic.

As far as Breitbart goes, that's what happens when you eat bad, drink lots of booze and never excercise. That, and his support of the wars and oppression of Americans puts him right in Hillary's camp.

    Just had to say that.

I don't wish death on Hillary. Just had to say that, too.

Finally, we hear from a physician.

    From the New York Times:

My apologies to Mrs. Clinton for doubting her. I wish her a speedy recovery. She is needed in washington.

Only Pharisee Baptists could connect the physical well being of a human being to political stances. It probably gives them something else to gossip about.

As one whose wife has struggled with blood clots more than once, I can empathize with Mr. and Mrs. Clinton. May God grant her healing.
