As of June 13, 2002, our webmaster updated the posting rules here on the Baptist Board. I encourage the membership to take a moment and review the updated guidelines. They are more specific than they had been and a few items went from unwritten policy to cited rules. You can always find them at the link toward the top of the index page and I will provide a link here for your ergonomic pleasure. [IMG]

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Those rules are helpfully clear and specific and thanks for providing also for my ergonomic pleasure, Clint :D

I believe God is in favor of clear rules, based on this Gen 2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die."

It's so much better when moderators can point to a rule that all posters should have read, and say "you broke this", rather than having to appeal to unstated expectations. (Even if they are reasonable ones) When moderators can point to a rule then the person who broke it has no grounds for saying you're being unfair. They knew it; they broke it; they have to accept the consequences of knowingly violating it. Period.

And of course, hopefully the result will be even better fellowship and more focused discussions that are to the glory of God. [IMG]

I like the overall rules and guidelines of this forum. [IMG]

I do have one concern, though.

    You say:

"We reserve the right to remove any posts without notice to the author or those who have replied. We reserve the right to suspend the posting privileges of any registered member without notice."

Can you elaborate on this a little? Other than things like porn, vulgarity or satanic posts, would there be incidents where you would remove posts without notice or reason to the author?

Thank you for clearing this up. [IMG]

All that means is that we reserve the right. Nothing more. Nothing less.

My guess is that you'll never experience that against you John (although never say never).

It's the kind of disclaimer that's put in board rules so that once someone has been warned, then if they repeatedly violate the rules in the same way, their posts get deleted without further notice.

Or, it's in case of someone who posts something which didn't fall into the categories specified as unacceptable and yet it is clear that they are only here to make trouble.

The disclaimer at least means that people who post egregiously enough to have posts removed without notice don't have any basis to say "but, you can't do that!" Yes the moderators and administrators can and the rules say that they might. But - rarely, I would think.

That was good. I especially like the "Golden Rule" Post unto others as you would have them post unto you.

    Thanks,
