Real gross domestic product (GDP) increased at an annual rate of 3.0 percent in the second quarter of
2017 (table 1), according to the "second" estimate released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. In the
first quarter, real GDP increased 1.2 percent.

Not bad. Haven't seen at least 3.0% since Q1 of 2015 and before that was Q3 of 2014.

Obama never had a full year of at least 3.0% GDP growth; Trump has made it his minimal goal. It doesn't look like he'll get it this year. During the campaign he thought his economic policies would get us to a 4.0% growth rate. Well, since hardly any of his economic policies have been implemented (tax cuts, tax reform, infrastructure) it's going to be hard to achieve that.

He does deserve credit. I thought his tax reform speech was good enough.

Maybe the GOP country clubbers could spend less time in front of cameras whining about his every move and more time legislating.

He does deserve some credit for infusing optimism in the economy with the promise of tax reform and actual repealing of a lot of regulations. I fear the momentum from his election is waning, though.

I thought his tax reform speech was good enough.

I just watched it. I thought it was basically standard campaign stump material--lots of statistics and promises, no real details. I did like it when he called out Sen. Claire McCaskill.

See it here:

(McCaskill comment at 18:49)

Read the speech here:

Maybe Trump should lead and demand action by Congress. He sort of, kind of did this in the speech and he got great applause (13:02 in the timeline of the video.) But he could and should do much more.

McCaskill is oh huge trouble. Her state went 60% for Trump and her party has no money.
