I am not being coy. I and my friends have used that term all our lives and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. It is short for pussy cat, and using it the way I did compared the Nazi techniques of torture, which were mild as a pussy cat, by comparison, to the Islamo fascists. I never knowingly use bad language. And I highly resent your comment.

I don't know what kind of school you are in, but that is absolutely nothing compared to what I've heard in schools, where NOTHING I've ever heard is out of bounds.

I've never in my life been told that, and I've been married to one wife and together we've raised 7 children, 4 of which are girls. How dare you. I even to this day open doors for women, who sometimes chastise me for it.

 

I can actually see his point on that one, since the vulgar term came from the way he's using it. FWIW, the term he used was a term of endearment for women that was used commonly up until the late 1800's in books, although edited out of many books since it's become a vulgarity.

It's another non-vulgar word that has evolved into something vulgar over time.

Edited to add: I'll not post it here, but it's interesting to read it in an etymology dictionary. I'll not post it here because of the way it's evolved.

The first sentence was vulgar and the second sentence was ignorant for there is no such thing as "Islamo Fascism". To then feign offense at others taking offense at one's potty mouth is doubly offensive. The etymology online entry HoG described is very telling and that's the definition that I've understood it to be since somewhere around the 4th grade. If you weren't aware of this definition then I would encourage you to take the palms of your hands and push strongly on the heavy thing you are currently living under.

This is a great topic and has been spoiled by the worst of derails. Perhaps, the creation of a new thread on the same issue would help us get back on track?

 

Yes, it is, and that is why it was edited. I really didn't believe that HC would purposefully knowingly post something vulgar in this forum.

I think that to take a stand one way or the other, "enhanced interrogation" would have to be well defined.

No torture, but flushing a Koran is not torture, for example.

 

I'm very upset at this turn of events. I had never understood the definition to which that word has been attributed, till now. I have a lot of faults, and the Lord has been long suffering and gracious in his correction, but this characterization of my integrity is intolerable. I'm leaving for now.
