I am planning to visit Atlanta in a few months time for work.

I plan to be there for a few weeks and was wondering if anyone could make a recommendation on a church to attend while there??

Unfortunatley I will be leaving my family at home so would love a small intimate congregation where I can make some new friends. [IMG]

Atlanta is a huge town. Where will you be staying? You can drive about a mile in any direction and find a church in the Southeastern US including Atlanta.

Good choice, but it isn't exactly what I would call a 'small intimate congregation'.

Hey Rugbyman, C.J. just called me from Texas because I had missed this post! I live just outside Atlanta. Which 'town' will you be working near? Everyone says Atlanta but that can encompass QUITE a big area! I'd love for you to visit our church but it is NOT small. Very intimate and loving tho..... but then I'm so very prejudiced!

Thanks Diane. While I have not yet booked accommodation I will probably stay at the Sheraton Atlanta (Courtland St.
Atlanta),as I am speaking at a conference there.

I will need to rely on cabs to get around because you folks have a terrible habit of driving on the wrong side of the road!!

I am not sure if you would be interested but there is a church about 40 miles south of Atlanta in Primrose that is a smaller church with a great Pastor. We are planning on going to Atlanta in April and will be going to this church whil we are there.

This sounds interesting - what is the name of this church? Do you know if they have a web site?

Rugbyman, you didn't say what type of affiliation you have. I know most people want to visit a church that is somewhat in line with their own belief system. We have many different types of Baptists, most of which can be found somewhere around Atlanta.

If you're going to be there a few weeks, there are some interesting sites you might also want to see.

Courtland Street is only 39 miles from here but is actually downtown Atlanta. So it's 39 miles and 200 years from Villa Rica. LOL. However, I'll ask around about smaller churches... I'm really not aware of small churches in this area other than the country churches out this way. We have some members who might be able to help you out but their churches might be quite different from what you enjoy.

I suppose the closest description is that of an independent baptist - but keep in mind we Aussies just dont have the same choices as you have in the US. (probably a good thing too - far too confusing!!)

I would greatly appreciate that. Probably an email message would be best.
