Walls Do Not Work -- Lesson From History

If we look at history one of the lessons is that walls do not do that which is promised. There is nothing new about walls. Kings, emperors, governments have built them for thousands fo years. Walls are built more because of internal politics not real need. Walls are an illusion of security.

Let's look at some walls:

The Great Wall of China was begun hundreds of years before Christ was born. It did not work well. If you do not believe me consider that the Manchus breached the wall easily, conquored and ruled China for several hundred years.

Hadrian's Wall was built about 120 years after Christ was born to keep "the barbarians" from Scotland out of Romand England. It didn't keep them out.

The Berlin Wall was never that effective in stopping the flow of refugees from East Germany.

The fences and walls between East and West Germany were breached often and were not effective.

The Russian border fences were breached readily.

The fence between the Czech Republic and Austria did not stop refugees. I have a friend in Sweden whose father escaped using that route.

Just a quick lesson on the failure of walls. Walls are expensive and ineffective. Walls can always be breached or tunneled.

Criminal cartels and desperate people will always find ways to negate walls.

Great Wall of China not effective? How many times did the Mongols invade China, Crabby, and conquer it?
