He did not sacrifice his life for the cause of Christ in the world. He was in Memphis to support unionization of sanitation workers.Only God knows.
However, we can judge his doctrine, as put forth in school or as put forth in the sacrifice of his life.
Incredible!! "I have seen the promised land, but I may not be able to get there with you..."He did not sacrifice his life for the cause of Christ in the world. He was in Memphis to support unionization of sanitation workers.
You diminish Christian martyrs by attributing to MLK, Jr., a sacrifice for Christ he did not make.
peace to you
Beautiful speech by MLK, Jr., but it doesn’t change the fact he was in Memphis to support unionization of sanitation workers not the cause of Christ. He wasn’t killed because he was a Christian and you diminish all Christian martyrs when claim he was.Incredible!! "I have seen the promised land, but I may not be able to get there with you..."
Those professing Christians who advocated slavery and segregation betrayed Christ, giving lip service to our love of our siblings in Christ, and doing unto others as we would want them to do unto us.
"“Like anybody, I would like to live a long life. Longevity has its place. But I’m not concerned about that now. I just want to do God’s will, and He’s allowed me to go up to the mountain. I’ve looked over and I’ve seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you, but I want you to know tonight that we as a people will get to the Promised Land! So, I’m happy tonight. I’m not worried about anything. I’m not fearing any man. Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord!”
Twenty-fours later, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr was dead.
Gandhi sacrificed his life for India. He based his non-violent philosophy in Jesus sermon on the mount. He considered Jesus to be one of a pantheon of gods.Only God knows.
However, we can judge his doctrine, as put forth in school or as put forth in the sacrifice of his life.
Good story. How much money did MLK jr charge to go to Memphis TN? $10K
I worked w several and I mean several fine Christian people in Memphis, some who’s husbands were pastors in predominately black churches, and they had very definitive words for him and none were “a good a Christian or good Christian Pastor” in any way
especially Wanda. He or one of his cohorts specifically told her husband that the $10K was non negotiable and that’s when they bailed on the whole thing
Others would not comment
yeah, they were black folks
I have seen no evidence you are qualified to judge Christ's servants.Beautiful speech by MLK, Jr., but it doesn’t change the fact he was in Memphis to support unionization of sanitation workers not the cause of Christ. He wasn’t killed because he was a Christian and you diminish all Christian martyrs when claim he was.
BTW, I believe that those that supported slavery and segregation betrayed the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Apostles that Christians, whether make or female, slave or free, Jew or Gentile are equal before God and should be unified for the cause of Christ in the world.
Peace to you
Yet another empty sack post, offering nothing. Folks, note how the Left has brain-washed several posters with malice toward freedom and hate for those trying to serve God.Gandhi sacrificed his life for India. He based his non-violent philosophy in Jesus sermon on the mount. He considered Jesus to be one of a pantheon of gods.
MLK took his philosophy from Gandhi. He couched his language about Jesus in a way that shows he never thought Jesus was God. In his private life he cheated on his wife time and time again.
Exactly what part of his teaching and actions demonstrated he knew Jesus as his Redeemer? Certainly he thought of Jesus as a good man who had tapped in to the divine essence, but he never once taught his congregation that Jesus is God incarnate who has died, been buried and rose again as an atonement for all who would believe.
Van, you have been shown the evidence. You just refuse to reconcile the clips of MLK you've seen on TV with the documents MLK wrote.
I have seen no evidence you are qualified to judge Christ's servants.
I guess the question is whether MLK Jr could be considered a servant of Christ based on his stated beliefs.I have seen no evidence you are qualified to judge Christ's servants.
Looks like Alberts King (MLK,Jr’s mother) died serving our Lord Jesus Christ."On June 30, 1974, as 69-year-old Alberta Williams King played the organ at a Sunday service inside Ebenezer Baptist Church, Marcus Wayne Chenault Jr. rose from the front pew, drew two pistols and began to fire shots. One of the bullets struck and killed King, who died steps from where her son had preached nonviolence. The deranged gunman said that Christians were his enemy and that although he had received divine instructions to kill King’s father, who was in the congregation, he killed King’s mother instead because she was closer. The shooting also left a church deacon dead. Chenault received a death penalty sentence that was later changed to life imprisonment, in part due to the King family’s opposition to capital punishment."
There is no doubt MLK Jr had flaws, but to claim he was not trying to be a servant of Christ is nonsense.
No one is advocating that the Virgin birth of Christ is not true and basic Christian doctrine. Ditto for Jesus bodily resurrection from the tomb. Ditto for Jesus being God incarnate.
What I am saying is to judge him by his life's accomplishments as a servant of Christ and pay no attention to the Leftist propaganda being posted with malice.
LOL, since you do not know if MLK Jr was a born anew Christian, you also do not know if He is a Christ martyr.I guess the question is whether MLK Jr could be considered a servant of Christ based on his stated beliefs.
I have stated I don’t declare people are saved or unsaved and I am open to the possibility that God Holy Spirit brought MLK, Jr into a saving relationship with God on the morning he was killed.
My issue with your previous post is that you seem to indicate MLK, Jr was a Christian martyr, which really has no basis.
He was in Memphis to support the unionization of sanitation workers and, as someone else pointed out, demanded money for his presence. That doesn’t look like proclaiming the gospel to me.
peace to you
Once again we have a poster being allowed to post disinformation. Malice toward truth?Looks like Alberts King (MLK,Jr’s mother) died serving our Lord Jesus Christ.
Are you saying the beliefs of the parents are transferred to the children, no matter what the children say they believe?
You are referring to MLK, Jr writings as leftest propaganda. I suspect a lot of people will agree with you on that.
peace to you
Uh....yes we do. A Christian martyr is a Christian who dies for the gospel of Christ.LOL, since you do not know if MLK Jr was a born anew Christian, you also do not know if He is a Christ martyr.
Oh No!!! I’ve been accused by Van of posting “disinformation” certainly I’m in fear of being cancelled. What shall I do??? Where can I run ??! Where can I hide???Once again we have a poster being allowed to post disinformation. Malice toward truth?
