For the uninitiated, chasers are non-alcoholic drinks (usually water, but can be soda) that someone drinks after guzzling a shot of booze. It's used to take the taste of the booze out of your mouth and to dilute the alcohol in your stomach. Chasers are also guzzled. So a shot of booze followed by a chaser would all be drunk in 20 seconds or less.

If you are chasing a Mike's Hard Lemonade Lite you are a silly person playing a silly game.

Your right.... wonder if its a peer pressure thing. If so, just say no. We used to visit Alcoholics in the medical center & the common denominator in almost all of them is denial. You see the guy laying there all bloated, liver out to here & yellow from jaundice & invariably they all say, "But you dont understand, I am not an Alcoholic." You come back a week later & he is dead & there is another one taking his place, same condition saying, "But you dont understand, I am not an Alcoholic."

I chase coffee, with water, can I be on the silly list, too? Please?

I can't pretend to disagree with you on this.

You must have a medical degree? You're so wrong.

It's simple math. If one person who weighs 180 lbs. drinks 3 beers in an hour (one every 20 minutes) and another person weighing 180 lbs. has 3 beers in 2 hours (by having a beer every 20 minutes followed by a glass of water every 20 minutes) who will have a higher blood alcohol level when they have finished their 3rd beer?

Now change that beer to Bourbon & ya know, throw in a beer after (and stay away from the Stella Artois & anything with higher alcohol context.) Stick to the Panther P, crud you shoot after shots (a beer chaser) to keep it down & to keep your eyes from poppin outa ya head. Then go drink your water.

Result, you will wake up pee soaked & vomiting. Then you will really need the water to rehydrate. Don't believe me, come with me to the Irish Pub in Motown NJ on St. Patrick's day and praying to RALPH & HUEY. http://paradeday.com/

EARL plans on being there with his BUICK.

Does it matter? They both have consumed identical amounts of alcohol. If a person is down to playing games like this to keep their BAC low they have bigger problems than math.

The idea about water/non-alcoholic drinks is to substitute - not supplement - alcohol consumption. You don’t drink as much alcohol in a given time frame. The lower alcohol level is a result of what your body oxidized during that extra hour. The water didn’t really help, but the extra hour made the difference (one guy had 3/hr while the other 1.5/hr).

What I have is experience since I drank from the time I was 5 years old until I was 29. I was a full blown drunk at age 17. Because of all of this I was homeless 4 times. In all of those years I tried all sorts of dumb things and made all sorts of stupid excuses. When you have lived it you do not need a medical degree.

Some people think because they can gather up some facts they understand how it works. It is the difference between seeing it on paper and living it. The latter has a much greater degree of credibility.

And you would be correct in that assessment:

It DOES serve as sufficient warning.

What it does NOT do, however, is prove what the Bible teaches about the moderate consumption of alcohol...

What it does do, is serve to demonstrate how much of a foolish mockery alcohol abuse can make of a man deceived thereby.....and it demonstrates it fully.

This I did not know. I do not know much when it comes to drinking alcohol, as I generally stay away from it, with one exception.

My unbelieving brother says this is incorrect. He drinks to get a buzz and he says Mike's do not do that because of their low alcohol and their high sugar content.

I drank 2 Mike's last week on the same day and they both said 5% alcohol on the labels. Don't trust the online websites. Trust the labels.
