Maybe not you in particular, but some KJV-onlies do. Before he died, this is what Rev. Jack Hyles preached.

No, you ask that we believe that *only the KJV* qualifies as God's word, and is thus infallible, inerrant, inspired, from God to them. For people that use other versions, understand history, and/or that speak other languages, this is highly divisive for it implies that one does not believe in God's word if they are not KJV-only.

It's not irrelevant. It's a legitmate example of the extremes KJV-onlyism can lead to. KJV-onlyism has caused many church splits, many family splits, etc. Division.

Amen, Brother Homebound -- Preach it!

We modernists are not condemning people to Hell.

Additionaly we believe that the KJV1611 is God's
inerrant word. We believe that the KJV1763 is God's inerrant
word. We believe that the KJV1873 is God's inerrant word.
We beleive that the New King James Version (nKJV) is
God's inerrant word. We Modernists believe that the
NIV is God's inerrant word. We Modern Versionists
beleive that the New Century Version (NCV) contains
God's written Word: the Holy Bible.

The KJV is beautiful. I love it, and use it.

The KJV is not *God's only Bible* though. The KJV itself is not inspired (if it is, when did Paul learn Olde English, so as to write it? Why did they have to use translators?)

Have any of you ever been on a mission trip to another country? I got to go to Mexico some years back. Seems that they all spoke some sort of gibberish. Couldn't even find a bathroom without our translator. But when he'd translate for us, it always seemed like he said a lot more than we said. Bain (our translator) said it was because our languages were different, and the words didn't always match up straight, and he had to work around the words to get something that meant pretty much the same thing.

OK, I'm through "hickin'" now, but that is how translation works. The KJV is a very close word-for-word translation, but if you saw my interlinear, you'd understand why it is not an exact word-for word. It is a translation, copied from one language to another as best as human minds could do it. The translators were normal men, not Paul and John and Mark and Luke and...

    In Christ,

I've always had a strong interest in apologetics, and I enjoy a good debate. I generally don't get involved in KJV-MV debates, however. You have to know where to pick your battles, and I feel that my energy is best directed elsewhere. It's been my experience that these debates over translation preference almost always end in bitterness and hurt feelings. Rarely is anyone "converted." My conscience is clear that the KJV is not the only Word of God in English, and I usually just leave it at that. But that's just my opinion.

What are those that believe the King James Bible doing that is so harmful?

Those that believe the King James Bible are doing nothing harmful.

KJV-onlyists, on the other hand, which is to say those that believe the King James Bible is exclusively the Word of God in English and any other English Bible is corrupt, are undermining Bible believers' trust in the Scriptures through arguments designed to create doubt, skepticism, and unbelief. If they actually believed the King James Bible and the sufficiency of Scripture, they would not be nullifying the Scriptures through traditions of men.

The arguments KJV-onlyists use to undermine confidence in the sufficiency and authority of Scripture are essentially no different than the ones used by Romanists for the same purpose.
