    Very interesting words.

You have been weighted.” Symbol of justice often portrayed as balanced dishes that hang on the rope attached to a balancing arm. One side of the scale presumably weighted bad things, on the other side weighted good things.

Justice of the Lord very much does the same thing, it weights all our positive and negative thoughts, words, and deeds, and according to which side the scale lean, decision is made what to do with a person.

Of course, this is symbolic and not literal presentation of justice of GOD, but because humans use the same symbol of justice, this Biblical depiction and expression “You have been weighted,” gives to humans better understanding how justice of GOD works.

And found deficient.” These words relate not to the session and deliberation in the court of GOD, but to its conclusion and final judgment. Belshazzar was found deficient as a person and as king, and decision between life and death has been made in the Higher Court of Justice.

What kind of deficiency was found in Belshazzar Bible did not specify, but it is not hard to figure it out by looking at the feast of the king. Every king has his feast and celebrations for whatever reason, and it is is not a sin to have good time and celebrate some occasions.

But during the feast of Belshazzar, something very different and despicable happened, he and his guests use holy vessels of the Lord taken and brought by his grandfather Nebuchadnezzar from the holy Temple of the Lord in Jerusalem.

It seems that Nebuchadnezzar himself did not used any of these holy vessels of the Lord but stored them in his treasury. But during the rule of his grandson Belshazzar, these vessels have been found and brought to the feast of Belshazzar and used as drinking vessels.

The holy vessels of the Lord still remained holy, despite the fact that they no longer in the Temple and no longer in use, and their holiness remains with them, because they are the vessels of the Lord holy GOD, and their holiness last as long as the GOD Himself lasts.

Of course, Belshazzar has many other sins for which he could be punished or even put to death, but it seems that Scripture pointed out to this particular accident at the feast, and this action of Belshazzar concerning holy vessels of GOD perhaps turned scales of GOD'S Justice to the side of his demise.

And the death came quickly to him at the same night (Daniel 5.30) and he perished in his own iniquity for defiling the holy vessels of the Lord. Perhaps he would live much longer if he would not do such thing, but even those Levites who defile anything holy and anything what belongs to the Lord GOD, also faced swift death penalty without any exceptions.

The point is that we are all weighted by GOD and our efficiency or deficiency balancing on the scale between life and death.
