I Wonder, Chiquitita, this is a Crazy World so there should be no Disillusion it is Good as New. I think you realize that Without ABBA there would be a Hole in Your Soul. That's why I Let the Music Speak.

Upon Arrival, The Visitors here will probably Move On as this isn’t The Winner Takes it All mentality (On and On and On) that we often see. No one’s Under Attack. We're just talking, The Way Old Friends Do. And all because I mentioned ABBA....You Owe me One. I contributed and wandered off the conversation....Two for the Price of One. I don’t know…. Should I Laugh or Cry?

As music, it stinks. As a vehicle for the Gospel, I don't think it's appropriate.

I love rock music, as evidenced by the "what are you listening to" threads I've posted in.

While CCM, in general, is awful, there is some rock music that would be a good vehicle for the Gospel. But the problem with this "death metal" is that it's discordant and chaotic.

    I don't see how it's consistent with Philippians 4:8.

I don't have a link, but Albert Mohler has written much about aesthetic beauty in music. I don't have a link, but if you were to look that up, I'm sure you would find it interesting.

This is often the argument against using any type of secular music as a vehicle for the Gospel or for biblical doctrine (the argument that it is vulgar/common rather than sacred).

    I know.

I don't listen to DM just because I like it, and here's a story to prove it.

I used to listen to Ashes Remain. As I listened to them, I heard a song by Starset. I absolutely LOVED that song, the entire sound of the music was exactly my kind of style at the time. But they were not a christian band, and didn't have christian lyrics. So I stopped listening to their songs, and never looked back. I don't listen to (any) secular music, unless it's some sort of instrumental. So it's not that I'm just listening to this because I want to, but it's also the best option for me spiritually.

There's plenty of secular artists that I could very easily listen to, and enjoy their music. But I don't, and I stick with bands that glorify God. So I do have a limit when it comes to spiritual correctness...but not necessarily how scary the music sounds. :)

Also...who is ABBA? Are they super famous or something?

I don't know if I'd say ABBA is super famous or super infamous :). They are....were... a Swedish pop group (that, for clarification, I never really liked....really....but my wife did). My wife bought "ABBA Gold" and I had to listen to it on long trips until the CD accidentally got "lost."
