What does the preacher wear on Sunday?

At our prior church, the pastors wear the Geneva Robe, which is my personal preference (the Geneva robe is a plain black robe). At our current church, our pastors wear a tie (sometimes) with a sports coat.

 

Our preacher always wears a suit and tie. Even in the summer. I wouldn't be able to picture Charlie with a robe.

 

I love that one padre. He probably would like it to. Always was one to laugh at himself.

 

Our new pastor wears dockers and a knit sport shirt. I really like to see the pastor in a coat as least.

Depends on the mood he is in.

 

Now padre wouldn't you just love to see Charlie in a pair of Bermuda shorts? I think I would laugh so hard I wouldn't be able to continue with the service. LOL

 

As Steve Martin said in the film Leap of Faith, "Always look better than they do".

 

Suit and a tie everyplace he goes (except on "Old Fashioned" Sunday) then he wears a pair of bibs and a white long-sleeved shirt.

Our pastor always where's a full suit when preaching. On non Sundays he wears a button up shirt and khakis or black pants. I've only seen him in a T-shirt once, that was in a skit his wife and he did for one of our youth get togethers, it was hilarious, only because our pastor was doing it. He was a farmer coming to the doctor's office and he was nervious, well a rich debutant lady had come in before him(played by his wife) and had got a stick of gum out and chewed it for a while well when she was called in she stuck her gum on the bottom of the chair, and when the farmer came in he chewed on it too. LOL Actually I think it is one of those you had to be there things.

A suit, of course. We all wear our best in respect to the Lord and our fellowship. Only modern psycho babble in the church causes people to lose that respect, and the resulting sin that compromises our standards.

When the doctrine slips, so does the attitude.
When attitude slips, so does the humility.
When humility slips, so does the dress.
When dress slips, so does the testimony.
When testimony slips... see the dead NT churches.

 

And what of those who can't afford a suit, or who have never owned one and chooses not to wear one?
Don't judge decent dressed people because they ared dressed fancy enough. Your post assumes if they are not dressed up fancy in clothes they can't sfford they have comprimised.
And I'm not talking about people dresses in barely there clothing either, but modestly dressed people who are dressed differently then you.

 

It doesn't matter what the preacher is wearing if he is teaching the Word! I have heard some preachers in three piece suits preach false doctrine, and I have heard preachers in blue jeans preach sound doctrine.

The Scriptures don't say you have to wear a suit and tie to church, legalism does.
