A brush with death has a way of changing ones life and outlook in many ways.

It puts one in touch with their mortality and reminds one of what is really important.

I speak from experience. I still wonder for what purpose God spared me 18 years ago when I suffered a cerebral aneurysm. Two weeks in a virtual coma and brain surgery left me virtually the same physically and mentally, but forever changed.

Your spiritual health is far more important than your political outlook, but sometimes it's hard to separate the two. Maybe we shouldn't even try.

A Marine 3Rd Recon motto that holds a similar meaning for Christians:

    Back to the thread title

I am a firm believer in transparency in finance and politics but for obvious reasons it must start at the bottom. I propose that the IRS post every income tax return on the web.

This is a ridiculous, unworkable, and unAmerican plan.

It accomplishes nothing--except to cause problems:

    Identity theft
    Loss of privacy
    Interpersonal difficulties

And for what? There's not a single good reason to do it.

BTW...your "brilliant idea" is being tried in Norway. It has been a spectacular failure.
