What have you learned from this board?

Me too, the board encourages me to open my Bible and examine the facts.

The board has revealed a great range of different viewpoints and allowed me to solidify why I believe as I do.

I bought an ESV Bible after reading the discussions in the translations forum.

And occasionally it has encouraged me to change my viewpoint or atleast to modify it to become more accepting of others.

I've learned that there are alot of good Christian people around here. I've also learned there are certain topics I need to stay away from.

Could you tell me Diane? My son's e-mail gets bombarded with this garbage. I wrote my congressman several months ago, and was told there was nothing that could be done about it (1st Ammendment and all). If there is a was to stop it, I'd love to know. Thank you!

Larry, I have a program called Postini, which is supplied by my server. It does not stop unwanted email, but it does isolate it and I can delete it in bulk. I don't know where it comes from, but have been told that ICQ and a program called GatorAid contributes to it. It is annoying.

Quite aside from meeting a lot of gems in here, I have learned that legalism is alive and spreading. The BaptistBoard is still the best forum site on the net that I have found, and I should dearly miss it, and a lot of you folks, should something ever happen to it.

If you receive porn mail and cannot 'see' the link, right click and click on copy shortcut and you don't have to open the page to find the link.

I report from 3-15 pages a day. Someone has signed me up for absolute filth! We have 3 computers and ONLY my email address gets the porn.

Yep, Katie. He LOVES your ribs! The picture of him with Nick is a newer one. That one, he was on prednisone and it made him so sick.

I have learned that I am moodier than I thought. One day something will just irritate the bejeebers out of me and the next day...nothing.

I have learned that I am not as far to the right on some issues as I thought.

I have learned that apparently the fact that almost everybody in the real world likes me has more to do with my physical demeanor than just with the words I use.

I have learned that MailWasher is a pretty good antiSpam program.

I have learned to do a better job of explaining my position on issues (still working on the appearing and being nice about it part).

 

I think (I hope ) that I have mellowed out a lot in the year I have been here. It's taking some time, but I am learning to be more open minded on some issues, and more grounded in others. I am thankful for that.

I have learned to see things from others perspectives before I post and stick my cyber foot in my cyber mouth. But I have also learned how to post what I strongly believe in, hopefully without being offensive (nobody's perfect ).

I have gone from being a terribly legalistic IFB to just another sinner saved by Grace.

 

By the way, all ya'll who are getting the porn spam and stuff like that, might want to download an anti-spyware program. It sounds to me like you may have spy ware on your computer. Stuff like Gator, xupiter, orbitexplorer, etc.

I have spybot search & destroy and it cleaned a lot of spy and adware off of my computer, and has been keeping it off.

It's a free download and pretty easy to use. Just do a search on google for it.

I did download Spybot and it crashed my computer. The tech told me they have a glitch and you cannot set it to start at boot up. However, what I'm receiving has MY name and claims I've joined clubs. I'm talking super porn. Illegal stuff! I report everything to the Atty. General and then send the whole headers to abuse@ whatever. I've offered to press charges if they can find the ISP who signed me up.

Ug......... I hate it!

Don't feel so bad, Diane, At least twice a month, I get an offer to increase by bust size.

 

What have I Learned?? I have come to realize that what I have believed all along is more true than I had hoped. And that is : People believe what they want to believe Sometimes even if contrary to overwhelming facts.
