Strong’s Hebrew #7451 Evil- Those who give misery to others, ethically wicked, those that think to do evil in action, and deed, disagreeable, and displeasing.

Those who devise or think about evil are deceitful in their hearts (Prov 12:20).

Those that know that they should do good, and don’t are in sin, which sin is the evil of “OUR WILL” be done (Jm 3:17, 13 & 16); This is also known as being “Self-willed” and these “Self-willed” people are presumptuous, because they are walking in the lusts of their flesh (2Pet 2:10); It is these people who cannot abide in the truth because they can only speak of “Their own” will which will is of the devil, because of lusts (Jn 8:44); And this is all because “Their own will” is still present within them so they cannot perform the good that they want to do (Rom 7:18-19).

The fear of God is to HATE this evil way in all of it’s haughty PRIDE, which says: [1] YOU already have strength; [2] YOU already have understanding; [3] YOU already have sound wisdom; [4] YOU already have wise council (Prov 8:13-14). The Fear of the Lord is in the wisdom of how to depart from (this) evil (Prov 3:7)
These believers need to learn how to ASK of God to crucify them with Christ, so that it would no longer be “THEM” living ( for their own self, in their will) but Christ in them (and over them so that they could be for others, rather than against them) because the life that they now can live is by the faith OF the Son of God (not their faith); Jesus gave Himself for us so that God could crucify us with Christ (Gal 2:20).

Jesus came down from heaven, NOT to do His will, but the will of the Father that sent Him (Jn 6:38).

The believers who have gone through this crucifying process, are no longer going around calling themselves a “sinner” (saved by grace) because they have learned, and understand that God has forbidden Christ to be the minister of sin (Gal 2:17); Do you know that “evil” pursues sinners? (Prov 13:21) Sinners think that they can “put on” the new man without first “putting off” the old man, and they don’t understand that doing this, causes them to perish (Math 9:17, Lk 5:37) (because they think that they can have 2 natures). Because of God’s mercy, “sinners” need to be called to repentance so that they could learn how to not be this sick (Math 9:13-12, Mk 2:17, Lk 5:32).

Without those who can cast their bread (godly wisdom) upon the water [of humanity] after many days, we can find it (come back to us, by it’s fruit) within 7-8 years: For otherwise only “evil” shall be upon the earth (Ecc 11:1-2); These secrets (of godly council) are with them that fear (or are learning how to fear) the LORD, and these will be shown His covenant (Ps 25:14).

You don’t know anything about love, unless you know that love edifies others in the wisdom, and knowledge of God (Eph 4:16), which love edifies, and builds people up by writing these things down for others (so that others may study, learn, and meditate upon these things,) (Es 9:30, 1Cor4:14, 14:26, Eph 4:29, 4:16, 1Thess 5:11, Rom 15:2, 1Tim 1:4) .

“Evil” men cannot understand judgment, because they do not seek the LORD, so that they can have understanding (Prov 28:5); For God intends to bring out our secrets, which are behind every work that we have done into judgment: Whether it be Good “God moved” or whether it be Evil “Self-motivated” (Ecc 12:14); An ungodly person digs up evil (learns how to move themselves successfully in this world) (Prov 16:27); Can you discern, and prove (using the scriptures) whether God is moving you, or whether you are “Evil” because you are moving yourself ??(in your so-called freewill) (Heb 5:14)
The conclusion of this whole matter is to fear God, (hate moving our own selves) so that we could be able to keep His commandments: For this is the whole duty of humanity (Ecc 12:13); Jesus came down from heaven, NOT to do His will, but the will of the Father that sent Him (Jn 6:38).

Remember, there are not so many master bible teachers, because of the bridling of their whole body (God has taken everything, and everyone from them including their own work, their own desires, and pursuits) which turn these men into perfect men who have the Governor’s guiding (Jm 3:1-4); Without which we have many books without end, and there is much study, which brings much weariness upon the flesh! (Ecc 12:12).

These godly men are those few who labor in the word and doctrine, and God says that these men are worthy of “double honor” because of their labor (1Tim 5:17): We are called to know these men who labor among us in the word, and give us exhortations, and warnings, so that we could esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake, and this is how we can be at peace within ourselves. (1Thess 5:12-13) In Jesus name, Amen.

    Hi, Zetheberean.

I am aiming to edify others with the word of God, because this is what love does.
    (1Cor8:1, Rom 15:2).

I appreciate that. I'm just wondering why you put this post in a forum called "Pastoral Ministries" instead of, say, "General Baptist Discussions." Is that an indication that you want to teach pastors in particular?

What is evil? Anything that falls short of God's glory.

Wouldn't evil be the absence of God?

Not sure where one can be that an omnipresent God is not.

    Does God indwell Satan?

    Does God indwell the unbeliever?

Jesus said that evil deeds come from an evil heart, where God does not reside.

    (boldface mine)

Well, I don't think I see that wording anywhere in the Scripture. I do see the wording that sin is a "falling short" of God's glory, so I would rather employ that.

Besides, all things were created by Christ and for Christ, including Satan and every unbeliever, Col. 1:16. All things are upheld and governed by Him, and serve His own purposes. There's no where that one can go where God is not really present in all His being. That's Omnipresence, Psalm 139.

That's how I see it anyway.

I am not arguing with the omnipotence of God. But God's Spirit does not abide in unbelievers or Satan and his demons.

God is light and in Him there is no darkness.

Act 26:18 to open their eyes, [in order] to turn [them] from darkness to light, and [from] the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.'

Eph 5:8 For you were once darkness, but now [you are] light in the Lord. Walk as children of light

I think if we compare light and darkness as the Bible uses the words, we can see that light is God and darkness represents evil and Satan.

Evil isn't an actual thing. You can't touch it, smell it, hear it, ect. It is the effect of the absence of God.

    That's the way I see it. :)
