We live in half a hotel..... This house was built in the 1870s as a boarding house for the local tannery. It has a center stairway that was divided making two three-story, four bedroom apartments. Exercise? The master bedroom is on the third floor and the washer/dryer in the basement. Three flights of stairs and the hope you didn't forget anything.

Being a Limey, I don't understand half the terms used in the poll eg: what's the difference between a ranch and a bungalow? Bungalows we have over here but I thought that 'ranch' was the American term for bungalow. Over here we tend to classify dwellings as 'detached', 'semi-detached' (two houses joined together), 'terraced' (=row house in the US) or 'flats' (= US apartment).

I live in a 20 year-old 3 bed detached house, so I don't know how to answer the poll!

Ok, some may take me seriously, so I better tell you what type residence I reside in. Some people really do think that people in Oklahoma are still in Tee Pees! :laugh:
I live in a Spanish style brick home. We have a portico on the front with several arches in the brick walls surrounding the portico. Our home has a formal living room, formal dining room, den with a very large woodburning fireplace, breakfast area, 3 bedrooms, two baths, two car garage attached, and a two car detached shop. The lot our home is on is about two acres, with over fifteen very large old oak trees, lots of other ornamental type trees and bushes. The home has a rear entry garage with a drive to the shop, and a circle drive that approaches the portico on the front. All this nicely located in an estate style old neighborhood, conveniently located within the city limits, but yet in the country.
We currently have our home for sale and are in the process of purchasing twenty acres further in the country, to build a new home, which will be smaller than the twenty three hundred square feet we now have. We need to downsize, and prefer the country.
Another question may be, what are the price ranges for homes in your area? We are experiencing people moving here from say for example California or New York, to take advantage of the low home prices in our state. We have our home listed for one hundred seventy thousand, which if it was in one of the aforementioned states, it would be well over a million or two. :thumbs:

Why don't you relocate your home to California before selling it? Make an extra 500k, and after my 10% fee you will be left with 450k!

I currently live in a 88 year old mill house, but have bought a manufactured home (double-wide on a permanant foundation). The manufactured home is being renovated before we move in, but it is taking a LOT longer than was anticipated (over a month over schedule right now), so I am making two house payments. With the way the market is right now, I may be doing that for a while...

So, since "shack" was not an option and I can't choose two, I didn't vote.
