I heard this from somebody. This is not a doctrine that he is pushing, but this is his theory.

    Romans 8:30 says the following:

He believes that God is able to regenerate His elect people independent of gospel preaching, thus, according to him, God is able to issue the call to His elect thru the Spirit as well, the same way that the Spirit preached the gospel to Abraham.

What think ye ? Again, let me reiterate, this is not doctrine, but, something he personally believes and shared with me.

I don't know about adults but that is certainly the case with those who die in infancy or who are otherwise mentally unable to come to Jesus in repentance and faith.

Wow, that was fast. Thanks, KenH.

That's what I told him, too, but, you know, I know where he's coming from. You see, we Primitive Baptists believe that God has His people even among other religions, even among countries where atheism is the norm, and possibly even among unreached and un "evangelized" tribes. That seems to be inferred in the Bible and in the doctrine of election.

The problem He was working on was the Effectual Call to God's children, which is probably why he came up with that theory.

Again, thank you for your fast response.

God has chosen men to receive His Grace. I can't understand WHY He did it and even less of WHY He chose me. But it is fact.

God has chosen a method to receive His Grace. It is believing in faith (which, of course, involves repentance from sinful unbelief). I don't understand WHY He did it and not just given us a magic potion, ritual, water, wafer and VOILA we get "graced. But He didn't.

Abraham did not have the "preaching" as we know it, but he did believe. And since God gave His grace by believing in faith, that's what it takes.

The NT states though, that this is rare since "faith comes by hearing the Word" . . and it is by "the foolishness of preaching" some will believe.

But again, let's not put God in a box and say He cannot save another today as He did Abra'am of old!

Far be it from me to dispute what God is capable of doing. But over and over again - including right here in Romans - Scripture says that the preaching of the Gospel (not some mystical, inward "leading") is the vehicle by which God's elect are called.

Denying that God uses means is the same fundamental error made by the hyper-Calvinist.

God can and may do whatever He wants to do, whenever He wants to do it, however He wants to do it, wherever He wants to do it, with Whomever, for Whomever, and by Whomever He wants.

    He's God. For real.

Do we really think that the Creator of all that is created........... with such order....... fearfully and wonderfully made........ would leave such things as eternity up to chance? Taking a chance on sinful humanity...... who being the first people created without sin...... fully sinned upon the first chance. I don't think so. He chooses us. His choice of us is not determined by man. Preaching His word is one of the ways ............ the vehicle that we are privileged to be a part of........ out of response to His sovereign grace..... that He reaches His chosen. I'm sure there are many other ways that God chooses to bring His elect to grace. Grace and peace to you, Tex
