I'll tell you what. They day you learn what that is. Come back and talk to me. Until then you should do more reading around here and less posting. You show your ignorance each and every time.

Would you provide us an example of a 'sinner's prayer', so we know what exactly you are talking about?

Enough games. I am out witnessing at "forbidden topic fest 2016." Passed out 200 tracts and the million dollar bill has been a smash only wish they will read them.

Certainly by the time Paul penned Romans.

But a better question may be "when did calling on the name of the Lord become obsolete?" I suspect more recently.

I don't believe you think this clinched his salvation, do you? Or was something else going on inwardly in the person in this example passage?

Paul tells us that those who call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. I know some have "misused" the "sinners prayer", but others have used it as an explanation of what it is to call on God (to repent and believe). The OP, unqualified, asks about calling on God just as much as it asks of misusing some prayer .

I am certainly against the idea of an invitation where peer pressure is used to generate a public profession of faith, i.e. the close of a Billy Graham crusade. No one is saved by a public profession, it is meaningless. What matters is if God credits your faith as righteousness. If He does, you are saved with or without a public profession, an immersion in water, or any other "works" thought necessary for salvation. Most of us here trust in faith alone.

While the "sinner's prayer" might explain to someone seeking salvation what scripture teaches, in no way does it generate its own "all in for Christ" commitment in the core of our soul.

    Yep. Second that.

Nothing wrong with theology books, but too much reliance on them rather than Scripture is not good.

False false false. I rely on the scripture which the books help explain better as God has given us teachers.

I think your book excuse is another way of saying that you oppose diligent study.

I gave out 200 tracts. Not sure who will and will not read them. But they went out like hot cakes so the tract publisher did an excellent job.

Because I do not know you personally, I would never question your commitment to Scripture. What is evident (observed over time) is that you hold a high opinion of certain authors. Some would say too high.

Think what you wish, but you are wrong. Study is good as long as the right materials are used. Scripture is Our Lord's Word, while everything else is man's opinion of it. Some put too much emphasis on the latter. My opinion only.

"Wait" for what? Pause for ridicule? Wait for what exactly?

...and what is wrong with him wishing they would at least read them? I am reminded of 2 Timothy 2:8-10. Your condescension here aside. There is no reason for your post other than to ridicule and to be inflammatory.
