Awesome job... I totally agree with you:) There is so much seemingly good music out there that is in reality damaging to our christian walk. Satan was in charge of music in heaven before he was kicked out... A truth that is forgotten but that is so important in understanding how important it is for us to listen to good music. Satan knows what he's doing with music.. And he's a liar!!!

Thanks for sharing...I look foward to hearing from you again some time...

    Your friend,
    Michael

I think when a Christian chooses a proffession to be a Singer, right away we start judging them. I mean, can't they sing about life situations as long as its not offending God? We all have proffessions, some christians choose singing as theirs. But some people are so quick to judge them and attack them if theyre not singing Hymns and Psalms. We are right to examine everything that we listen to. If it's not a Hymn or a Psalm it doesn't mean its offending God.

    Candi016, good point.

When I was a teen, I went for a certain sound---a certain angst-ridden, cacophonous sound. The lyrics that came with that sound were, well, much much worse.

I think much of modern Christian music reflects the angst of youth, but it also plants seeds of hope. I find it to be real, even if it's not traditional and sometimes not beautiful.

I wish I'd had this alternative. The Imperials were fine and wholesome, but I wanted something that reflected the things I was feeling. Then I needed to hear the message of hope.

Well, I don't have a cd player in my room, but in my car I have Jeremy Camp. I highly recommend this guy, he's just awesome, and has an awesome testimony. And the lyrics are great too, not watered down at all.

I think we need to realize that not all of our bro's and sis's in the Lord have the same convictions as we do about music. Those that listen to Marilyn Manson and whatever else probably do it cause they think it's fine and it doesn't really bother them. I used to listen to Metallica, Offspring, Korn, Creed, and other heavy bands as well the not-so-heavy groups like Sugar Ray, Oasis, 3rd Eye Blind, and Collective Soul. I know these guys are probly a bit older (I'm not a teen, but I'm close [IMG] ) but some of you will recognize them. I didn't have any convictions about listening to them for the longest time, but the Lord kept saying "hey, does this music glorify Me? Does it help you at all spiritually?" I kept making arguments and just plain ignoring God, but finally I came to a point where I was tired of ignoring God and I slowly gave up my secular music. It didn't happen overnight, and I still struggle, as anyone will, but I know I'm doing the right thing now, and that's what matters. Just give a person time to grow, don't expect someone to listen to the same music you do, and if they don't, don't tell them they are wrong, just ask them why they listen to it. You can tell them your convictions without preaching at them.

Great point right there. We should not shove our music taste and beliefs down peoples throats-but be patient and understaning with others.
I know sometimes we, including myself(alot of the time [IMG] ) forget that

    Thanks for sharing that.

Well I feel as if I must give an update. Currently Twila Paris is in the Cd player. Before that I had Soulfly in there. You can see I only play the best.

Here's something I thought I'd bring up with this forum. I recently bought pit tickets to the Marilyn Manson show when he comes here to Los Angeles. This should beintersting, I follow of Christ in the "pit of Hell" so to speak. I will report back if I survive. [IMG]
