    Hi Pastor Timothy

    You asked........
    A good question.

I am an independent fundamental Baptist, myself, and my particular Church is more conservative than any other Baptist Church within about a 75 mile radius.

Why? (Conservative music) & (Expository preaching)!
    --------------------------------------------------
But that isn’t to say, that every fundamental Baptist Church, is truly fundamental.

Therefore, whenever my wife and I are traveling, and are in a strange city on Sunday, we always choose a SBC, Church to attend, because “in the past”, we have found a worship service, that is a lot like ours.

But within the last few years, this isn’t always the case.

So many Churches, are using(mis-using), there “power point” system, to where it is distracting, and seem to have forgotten about “pleasing he Lord”, and are blatantly seeking to “please people”.

Lately, we are taking our chances with independent Baptist Churches.
(Haven’t ran into any snake handlers yet.)

FWB (I am one) also differ on the point of election (If I understand the typical Baptist Doctrine). Without getting into a debate on Calvinist vs Arminian, FWB believe all can be saved but most choose not to.

FWB differ somewhat in style of worship from church to church, although most in South East Ohio are conservative in dress and style. Here the KJV is STRONGLY preferred.

FWB practice Foot Washing as an Ordinace along with Water Baptism (ermersion, no infants) and Communion.

Hope that clears some things. Are ther any other FWB out there?
    ... anyone?

Dr. Bob can you tell us about the "Sandy Creek tradition" and the "Charleston tradition" of Baptist Churches ?

With the independence of local congregations you find differences even within local associations.

As the deacons like to remind me whenever we meet, whenever you get three Baptists together you will have five opinions.:)

Oh no, each and every of the hundreds of delegates to the first Southern Baptist Convention in 1845 was a "Founders Ministries" kind of Baptist, yes they were. No doubt about that.

Oops, what you won't find on the "Founders" website:
From Founder (the first Secretary of the Foreign Mission Board of the SBC) Rev. James B. Taylor's Virginia Baptist Ministers (1859), s.v. "David Jessee":

Okay, I'll bite. How does this relate to the OP? Or is this some sort of humor or sarcasm that I"m too dense to figure out?

no Tom, it was mentioned in a early post on this thread about Southern Baptist wearing sandals to Church. I would say alot of the first Christians probably did that. But not sure. thats what I was talking about. sorry it offended you if it did. and rest assured that I do not Joke about Christ or try to offend a fellow Child of God.

    God's Grace, Billy
