When Government Lobbies Government for More Government

“For all their harrumphing about the evils of corporate influence-peddling, left-wing demagogues such as Warren are amazingly—perhaps willfully—blind to the biggest influence-seekers in state and federal capitols. I'm referring to government agencies.”

...

Corporate lobbying may be concerning, but at least companies are spending private dollars and many of their efforts are defensive. If populists were serious about standing up against vested interests, they should forbid government from lobbying government for more government. But Warren and others clearly want a limitless government, so their anti-corruption campaigns really are nothing more than grandstanding.“

That is why many government departments need to be abolished or trimmed down to nothing. Our State Department is so bad that it is a laughingstock. There is nothing professional about it and even Democrat presidents ignore that department. The CIA and FBI and the FISA courts are noted for corruption. Housing & Urban Development, Education, Energy, Agriculture, Commerce and others need to either outright be abolished or trimmed down to next to nothing. Maybe you recall when Reagan tried to abolish Rural Electrification Agency, which oversaw the installation of electricity in rural areas, completing their mission before WW II, yet they still exists. And then there are worthless programs such as NPR, PBS, and the National Endowment for the Arts. It's a shame how Congress squanders money.
