    Interesting...

Salty, do you agree with those men's position that heads of GARBC's (then) approved schools and mission agencies should not have been being also chosen for the GARBC's executive leadership (the "Council of 18")?

I agreed with Dr. Brown - Paid leaders of approved schools, missions, ect - should not be on the Council of 18. (It is the Council that approved schools, ect)
In essence - it was the Wolf guarding the Chicken house.

In addition the GARBC is an association of churches - NOT schools, missions ect.
Thus members of the Council of 18 should be pastors or members of local churches

    Good!
So...you likewise oppose the head of an SBC seminary (Al Mohler) becoming President of the SBC, right?

This is also one of the reasons behind the split of the CBA and FBF(I).

    Was not aware of that.
However, when the CBA was organizing the GARBC did talk to the CBA about merging - but GARBC said that CBA was not separate enough - for example some CBA churches were still members of the ABC.

Much of that came from the NBC pension plan for ministers. Also, there were deed problems with church meetinghouses built with NB Home Missions funding.

Well, there is one big difference - in the GARBC the schools, missions, ect were independent organizations of the GARB and were to be annually approved (usually the approval was just a formality. , The SBC seminaries, mission boards ect are part of the SBC and under the SBC control.

Exactly, that's why there's even more reason for you Southern Baptists to be wary of giving an entity head the reins of the Convention.

Did you see my second question: Are you against the plan to make seminary president Al Mohler the Convention President as well?

Yes, I thought about it - but since the GARB and SBC are set up differently - I dont have an opinion ----------- YEt.

Jerome, Let me ask you this - At the convention - did you vote for Mohler?

I don’t move in those circles so I’m not even aware of their existence much less any breakup. So what’s it’s significance?
