If you had to pick a seminary to get your M.Div today, which one would you pick and why. I am intersted to know what makes your seminary your pick.

You can't earn an M.Div. at DTS, btw.

Again none. The poll is skewed only lists SBC, New Evangelical or Presbyterian (the Westminsters) schools. No, I am not saying you'll loose you're sanctification or that on your way to h e double toothpicks if you go to one of them. I am just saying I would go to them for a simple M.Div. Now if I was called to study something other than a standard M.Div. then maybe....

Name a fundamental school worth going to.

    DBTS?
    CBTS?

    I don't think so.

When I started the poll I was more interested in finding out where people are going/have gone/will go to get their Master's Degrees. So if your favorite school is not on the list then please say it after voting. The Reason I listed the 11 I did was they are popular in my small world and pretty popular across the board.

Paul, let's be gentlemen about this matter. I won't debate the matter. How can I when you list DBTS and CBTS as fundemental schools?

    I don't understand.

Are you saying that they are not fundamental schools?

What schools do you think should be added to the list so that it won't be skewed?

I'm really interested, so I hope you will fill me in.

Sorry if I said something offensive.

Paul, you seem to be saying DBTS and CBTS are not schools worth attending. Can you give me some reasons for your opinion? CBTS is my alma mater, and I consider it to be one of the premiere IFB seminaries in the country.

I don't disagree with you TC.

But being a premiere IFB seminary doesn't strike me as being all that impressive. Granted, I've been hurt by fundamentalism and I am biased.

This is not an attack: Name some of the premiere professors you studied under at CBTS? Again, I'm asking in ignorance, so this is not meant to be a slam.

    My cousin graduated from CBTS.

I just think that DBTS and CBTS are so isolated from the main stream of conservative evangelical academia that neither school is worth attending.

I'm probably wrong, but the above two schools sure don't circulate in the discussions on this board.

    Okay. I can understand that.
Dr. R. V. Clearwaters, Dr. Gordon Lovic, Dr. Warren Vanhetlo, Dr. George W. Dollar, Dr. C. Daniel Kim, Dr. Roland McCune, to name a few. [IMG]

I would say that is a big plus for them. [IMG]

By the way, my uncle was Dean of Faculty at TEDS. When he asked me where I was going to school and I told him Central, he said it was a good school and he was quite familiar with Dr. Clearwaters when he was at University of Chicago Divinity School. [IMG]

I know of Drs. Clearwaters, Dollar, and McCune from my childhood years.

    Isn't CBTS seeking accreditation?

TC, different question. Would you say TEDS had a stronger faculty in the mid 80s than it has today? Or do you think it is equal to or better than the 80s.

I had so many well-known professors, or they would become well-known.

    Gleason Archer
    Kenneth Kantzer
    Walter Kaiser
    John Sailhamer
    Wayne Grudem
    John Woodbridge
    Thomas McComisky
    D. A. Carson
    William Craig
    Gary Collins

These are guys I actually sat under! Wow!

    Yes! Finally!
I would say it is better today simply because it is bigger and there is a broader spectrum of men from difference schools and theological traditions. But that does not detract in any way from the men who lead the school from a little known institute to become one of the most academically rigorous schools in the world. And, in my opinion, that was largely Uncle Kenneth's doing. [IMG]
Yes, a very impressive faculty. Especially the first one! :D :D :D

Somebody told me yesterday they think TEDS (now TIU) will be in the forefront of a second fundamentalist reformation, leading fundamentalism into the 21st century. I hope it is true. [IMG]

Because you didn't spell the school names out, I thought you meant Denver BTS and Conservative BTS.

From your exchange with Dr. C, I assume you meant Central and Detroit. Central, I have a passing knowledge of. But Detroit is outside my solar system but in my sector.

From the looks of the poll, CbtS wanted to be reasonably inclusive though not exhaustive. And the title of the poll is Which Seminary would you pick? So, it is in that light I make these suggestions:
    Calvary-Lansdale
    Maranatha
    International-Tempe.

The last two are relatively small schools, but they turn out a quality product.
